N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Coreena,

I personally took the shuttle.  Left my rental car in the hotel parking lot.  Saved me time and possibly getting lost or dealing with parking.  Was dropped off at a gate and walked 50 yards to graduation hall entrance.  Got the last 2 available seats down in the lower bleachers against the back wall~~  Got a shuttle back in the parking lot to the right of the NEX.  I came with Sarge and made sure I got a Sarge shuttle back!  It was really easy~~

Welcome Marietta!

Just scroll up and see that the Discussion Forum has a group for Division 267 and 268 (brother divisions), so you can meet other loved ones of the SRs.  Please, if you have any general questions about planning for PIR and your up and down feelings, please post them on this main Comment Wall.  Us veteran Navy for Moms can't check the discussion groups often, but we see those needing help here~~

Good Late Evening everyone!

This is my first post to this group, and I am so glad to be a part of this group! My son is in Ship3, Div 268 PIR Aug 14, Im so disappointed to miss his first phone call as he left no message. I am looking forward to know any who are in his ship and division.

God Bless

Is it better to take our rental car or the shuttle to graduation?

Just got a call from my SR. Best moment ever. He's in Ship 02 Div 940. They've been potentially promised calls every Sunday for the next few weeks. Hopefully they behave themselves. I'm going to go cry and laugh like a lunatic now.

Anyone else with Ship 12 Div 272?
One call and one letter so far.
He is doing fine. IT for laughing and talking.
Says they are doing LOTS of folding.
Not going outside much.

I went to the Zazzle link on the left of this page and made a square pin for all of us to wear. All the visitors coming to graduation are male, except me, and the concensus was they wouldn't wear the ribbons I saw people make. So, I created nice Square pins, with our Sailors name and PIR date with an anchor and I think they will be perfect for all the brothers to wear. As soon as they arrive I will post a pic.

Coreena:  Calls are totally random....division by division.....so keep that phone with you at all times!  They can have scheduled calls (division), but then might have them cancelled for some reason or lose them for not performing well, they can individually earn calls sometimes, etc.  So take that phone with you, even into the bathroom or when stepping out to get the mail!

Good Morning!

Coreena,

Be sure to check Sleep Inn's rating (or any other hotel) on www.tripadvisor.com

Favorites with good ratings are the Navy Lodge (book under your SR's name), Springhill Suites, Holiday Inn Express, Residence Inn, and Courtyard Marriot.  The last 4 are in Waukegan/Gurnee, 10 min away from RTC, near Sarge's Meet & Greet, a SuperWalmart, and some eateries~~  Ask for the Navy graduation rate~~

I'm sure your SR daughter is learning when she can and cannot communicate anything by now.  The Navy really wants their Sailors to develop that "military demeanor" when it's needed~~  Yep, phone calls are random.  Just be ready at all times!
