N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

licismom and gramma- I am so very sorry to hear about your daughter/granddaughter.  Prayers for you and especially her for healing, strength, comfort, and love.  She has a great support group for her in you guys, so she is lucky.  Hoping the process getting her home is smooth and quick.

two letters in two days. So proud of my SR, he is still loving it, loves the challenges, LOVES the PT...he's been out of 'the nest' for three years, so I didn't have the same anxiety as a mother whose child is leaving home for the first time, but I had other concerns regarding his happiness. All of that has been relieved, everytime he tells me he can't wait to see me at PIR...and I tell him I can't wait to see him early, as he will be at two other PIRs prior to his..I will livestream again today - get goosebumps as I watch our nation's finest - become Sailors. And look forward to sittig in that audience to see my son become a Sailor.Thank you NavyMoms for all the info, all the encouragement..everything. I don't post much, but I look forward to meeting everyone at Sarge's

licismom: I'm so very sorry....prayers that they will get her out quickly so she can move on with her life.  Hoping the medical issue is something that can be resolved completely once she is home.

Good Morning All !

For those of you looking for a special gift for your SR-soon-to-be-Sailor, please check out www.pirgifts.com .  They have Challenge Coins, which are a military tradition.  Craig, who is one of thei administrators on Navy for Moms, designed the ones that are connected to the ships at RTC.  The name of your SR's ship is right next to the ship number in the Discussion section.  When you click on one of the coins, you will be taken to a page where there is a video about Challenge Coins.  This would be a special gift especially connected to their Boot Camp days!  Another really sharp coin is the Core Values one in the section where 70 other coins are available--it has cut outs and a diamond cut beveled edge.  These coins are no longer given out by the Navy to the Sailors, so it is up to friends and family.  My Sailor daughter thought hers was "cool" when I gave it to her after PIR!

licismom,

Oh, so sorry to hear of your daughter's coming home due to a medical reason, but hopefully it can be taken care of when she is back.  I believe that things happen for a reason and just be there as a comfort to her.  There is just another path for her that she needs to figure out when she is ready...

BirdsOfAFeather,

In God's planning of the grand scheme of things, what matters is when your SR completes Battlestations and becomes a United States Navy Sailor!!  Gotta pick your battles and just know that you are right to yourself and just let your hubby "think" that he is right too~~
