OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Mommab4 my daughter also signed up with navy federal. When I spoke to her Saturday she said they allowed them to sign up for a new account bit she left her direct deposit as we originally planned. So maybe your son did the same. But I did login to account and set up a username and password for her based ogg of letter received.

Those of you that are making reservations online might not be getting the Navy Graduation rate that 99% of the hotels in the area have. Pleas be sure to call the hotels directly!

Jab:  It is most economical to have a car for PIR weekend....shuttles/taxis can get expensive, even when using Sarge.  If you don't want to get a car, Sarge is a good one to handle your transportation....

We rented a car for the couple of days, but took the shuttle to PIR.  Liked doing that.  Shuttle is cheap to/from PIR.  Sailor can return with you on the shuttle if not staying in GL for A School.

All personal items, including electronics (phone/laptops, etc) ARE handed off to the sailors at the airport....nothing can be brought back to RTC after Liberty.   For those staying in GL for A School, they can return to that base with their personal items after Liberty.

For those with sailors staying in GL for A School, they will move over there shortly after PIR is over.  Takes a few hours.  You will pick them up there.
