N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

mommaH i did end up calling there today and the very nice lady said i can change the name on the room to my sailors name once i check in :)

I made reservations at the Navy Lodge and let them know that I am there for my son's PIR, and gave his name.  That's all they said I needed to do.  She also said it was easy to change the reservation if for some reason he gets set back.

Comment by mommaH on July 13, 2015 at 6:29pm

Diverdee90 I was told to put the reservation in my SR's name so I would call and have it changed if I were you.

Two C's I'm waiting on 281 as well. I may have asked before but I can't keep track of everyone I've talked to lol. Are you in the FB groups? The notification from divisions start popping up there real fast from what I've seen with other divisions.

Jab You don't have to have a car but I would think it would make things easier for all involved if you do. My understanding is electronics are handed off at the airport before they fly out. Public transportation is pretty expensive from what I can tell.

Can someone tell me if I will need a car for PIR? I'm debating whether or not to fly or drive. I know the hotel has a shuttle but how do I get my son after graduation? And how does he get his electronics to take to his school?

I spoke with Navy Lodge today as our reservation is in my husband's name and he does not have a military ID.  The staff told me when we get there we can just give them our son's name and everything was fine.  I'm hoping so.

Still no calls from Div 281.  I'm so happy for those who have received one or two calls but praying like crazy that I hear something this week.

I made my reservations online but in my name do I need to call and have his name on them?

Diannep thank you so much for the info you have eased my mind greatly  :)  McMom I am sorry and will send prayers

Comment by diannep on July 13, 2015 at 2:22pm

lovey:  Yes, correct, Navy Lodge reservation has to be in your SR's name if you do not have military ID.  No problem then. And yes, you can leave them alone...not a problem.

On the airport visit. make sure to get her airport/flight info after PIR.  Hopefully she has a later flight (the first ones leave out around 6 a.m. but go throughout the day) and you can meet up with her later.  She should be hanging out at the USO when you get there.  Others are wonderful about lending the sailors their cell phones so should be able to call you and update you.  No worries!    Make sure all in your group take ID to the airport to get a gate pass and wait at the gate for her departure.  ID for each person is all that is needed for the airlines gate pass.  Same ID as you use for RTC.  I hope it works out for you to get there!

MCMom:  I'm so very sorry.  He would have to choose a job that was available, not overmanned.  Otherwise he could go undesignated and wait for another job to become available, and try for that.  Hoping that they medically clear him for aircrew.....if not, hoping that he can find another job he wants!
