Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Mammabear:I got 185.00 for 5 days through Hotwire for a midsize rental car. It's even cheaper for an economy car.

Received a call from my son on Saturday afternoon--section 279. I had told my husband the day before that I had a peace that we would hear from our son soon and I am so thankful we did. It was very hard to hear him on the call, he was breaking up a lot, but he sounded so good and happy, we were relieved. I hope all the loved ones in our PIR group receive a call soon. My son said he still had not received our letters but everyone else had received mail. He said he figured it was because the form letter did not get to us as timely as the others. He was thankful for the call time! I am so proud of my son and all the men/women who have decided to serve this great country!

Mcmom that's all you can do! I hope his spirits lift! Division 282 has yet to call :( I'm bummed but I know I'll get a call eventually.

Happy Sunday all, just getting online today from having grandson, glad there were more phone calls received... I do have questions as even though I got to talk with my daughter I am feeling very over welmed and have been having anxiety about PIR, I have decided even though we will have my grandson and SIL with us I have booked the Navy Lodge, prices just can't be beat and will be among "Navy Family" I saw somewhere today that a military ID is needed but I just thought the reservation has to be in her name? Also I know she will want alone time with hubby and son will it be ok that we leave them there and my hubby and I go do something to give them time alone? Also I am very confused about the hanging at the airport with them thing.. it looks like most go to the airport around midnight and its recommended that the family be there then but with a 2 1/2 year old that really won't work and I know its important that she gets her phone etc.. so she can communicate with her son again. So would we still be able to go the airport later and still spend time with her? I didn't realize we would have to get special passess, any clairification, guidance would be greatly appreciated

Oh Mcmom I am so sorry to hear that. Hugs! I guess the best way to look at it is there is something better for him. He (and you) may not understand it right now but time will tell. Hang in there. At least he will get to graduate on time. A positive.

We received our call from son with bad news. He is aircrew and went for eye exam and was told he has a cataract from a previous injury...he has NEVER had an eye injury!?! He will be disqualified from aircrew. They are trying to get a medical approval to get him in...otherwise he chooses another rate. My question does he get to choose or get leftover jobs? I'm scared he won't speak up and end up with a job he hates :( advice for him??

Too funny, NavyMomLiz!

Diannep: I didn't get a call today, so I'm definitely on the hunt for things to do! Lol.
It's a combination of adrenaline and panic. I'm going through a lot of "omg, omg, omg why hasn't he called or written" mixed with "omg, omg, omg I raised a sailor HOOYAH he's too busy doing awesome things."

Div 276 is calling home!!! I just talked to Joshua for 15 mins!! He sounds great!! He was supposed to call last Thursday but had his wisdom teeth removed and couldn't call! I feel so much better hearing from him. Did three way calling with myself and his girl friend.
