Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Comment by diannep on July 9, 2015 at 4:00pm: KimQuads: Also, like ellen said, he probably is in one of the first 2 divisions of the next PIR group....which means....they will be the first to go through BattleStations and become sailors! So there is always a plus side to some negative things! :-)

Comment by diannep on July 9, 2015 at 3:58pm: chili: The week is not over yet so you never know if your SR's division was finally allowed to write this past Sunday and a letter is on its way to you. If not then, should be this Sunday that they can write, I would think. They hold the mail from the SRs for about the first 2 weeks after arrival....until the Recruit Mail Petty Officer is trained. Then they get to write for the first time, and they receive their held mail. After that, they will only be able to write on Sunday's and mail out on Mondays, but they will receive mail M-F.

Comment by KimsQuads on July 9, 2015 at 3:19pm: Ellen0502 I think you are correct. I didn't think it was for any other reason & I knew it was a possibility since he arrived so late that evening. The fact that we hadn't received the form letter gave me a sinking suspicion too. His letter was dated 7/6. I just hate that he has to go so long without mail but on a positive note I am sure the rest of his division is also without mail so it's not like he is sitting there watching everyone else open up letters. Thanks a bunch:)

Comment by Chass2011 on July 9, 2015 at 3:14pm: So info I learned this morning. Div 276 is receiving and sending out letters! Also I got 2 letters in the mail today! Shipped on the 6th so took 3 days. :) Not bad. Missing my SR but all this communication today has me happy and encouraged that all is well. The last 2.5 weeks is the longest ever been without talking to him! Hurry on up August 21st!!

Comment by ellen0502 on July 9, 2015 at 2:18pm: KimsQuads, My guess is he arrived on a day that this TG filled and the next TG started. He just happened to start the next group, he wasn't held back just arrived at that moment.

He is probably in one the first of the two brother divisions for the next TG.
