diannep- I thought it was soon, but that is what he said- so he must be confused or someone telling him every week is hell week.  He did say he was tired going to bed about 2100 each night.  I am happy to hear from him, hoping everyone gets a letter this week.

Comment by diannep on July 12, 2012 at 7:02pm

Momof5: No, next week couldn't be hell week for them. That would have them finishing long before Aug 24th. The lowest numbered divisions probably will be in hell week (training week 4) by about the last part of July. Glad his letter was so upbeat and full of such great info!

I am so happy I got a three page letter today.  He is writing like a journal entry-a small amount each day.  He talks about them moving into the barracks and it is like a prison with a red light on all night so they can count them.  He says the peanut butter shot hurt worse than any shot he has ever had and it was in his butt.  He says he loves his NXUS (camps) and he feels like he is really in the Navy when he wears them. He loves PT and next week is hell week- it seems soon to me- but that is what he says.  His last entry was on Sunday- he says they have free time from 7-13 but there are still rules like, talk quiet, no laying down, you can take long showers but it is weird to shower with guys- lol.  He says his RDC calls them a@@ holes, and Mother F@@kers all the time and it is hard not to laugh because she is a little lady from the Philippines. I am so glad he is loving it- I knew he would and I feel better now that I know all is well.  Happy Mama here- hope the info helps others understand what they are up to.

Thanks Diannep and I had a problem with this site a couple weeks ago. I could even log onto the site. It kept saying it was under maintenance. It lasted pretty much a whole day and then I was finally able to get on here. It was so weird.

I got my first letter today.  So happy to hear my SR is doing good.  There were some fights that broke out in her sleeping quarters.  Not a good thing.  Some got sent home.  She is trying to stay positive.  Does any one know if any what we are allowed to send our SR's by mail?

Having computer issues today. Couldn't even get on this site until now. Still can't answer emails from this site--won't let me reply. Not sure what is going on but hope it resolves soon!

Lala/Race'sMom: I sure hope that this allergy that both of your sons have will not be an issue.....wow. Hoping that Race'sMom gets some encouraging news soon!

Comment by diannep on July 12, 2012 at 4:08pm

Race'sMom: SO very sorry about that. Yes, he could be sent home for allergies--depending on what kind. You would be surprised at some of the reasons they are sent home. It is heartbreaking. Some have been sent home for asthma that their moms said they have never had in their lives! Yes, he will be able to call you if they start to "separate" him. If that happens (hoping not), be sure to tell him to sign a waiver so that you can talk to the powers that be up there to get info on him. Otherwise, you can get no info except from him.

Being asmoed means being setback--removed from the PIR group but eventually put with another group to resume training, in most cases. That is usually for an illness, injury, failure of an academic/physical test, discipline, etc. Can't see where they would do that if he has an allergy to something?

I know it must be so frustrating. So hoping that there is a way he can stay...on our knees for your son!

Race's Mom, I am so so sorry to hear this. I am like you and don't understand why they can't just use a different antibiotic. Did he know he was allergic before he went in. My daughter is already a Sailor but my son is planning to join the Navy as well and is supposed to meet with a recruiter next week. My son is also allergic to all Cephalosporin antibiotics. We have known this since he was a toddler. We just thought it would have to be on his record. I don't even want to mention this to him but the last thing I want is for him to go to bootcamp and be sent home. Please let me know what happens. I will keep you both in my thoughts and prayers.
