Well, no letter yesterday.  I was kind of disappointed when I opened the mailbox and there was only junk mail in there.  Maybe something will come today.  I just want to hear how he's holding up.

Today is a bad day. It's 11 am and I've already written 2 letters. I've been so busy the past few days, I guess now that things have slowed down I've had too much time to think and miss my son :(
Praying for a letter today!!
I talked to a mom the other day whose daughter has been in for about a year and she offered lots of advice! It was helpful and insightful and not exactly what I wanted to hear, but I'm glad she was honest with me. One thing is like to share that she told me is to send blister band aids. They get lots of blisters on their feet from all the PT. I'm going to out a few in each letter since I can't mail a box of them. Since I'm writing everyday he will hopefully be able to always have new ones and enough to share with the other guys. Hope everyone hears from their SR's soon. 2 weeks down, 6 to go!

They usually get a couple days SIQ from having wisdom teeth pulled and that gives them lots of time to rest and catch up on sleep and my daughter used that time to write me 3 letters. She was so bored lol.

And I'm not 100% sure but I think they only get up at 4am during hell week. The rest of the time it is 6am unless they are in special ops div then I believe it is 4am daily. Of course things could have changed since my daughter was there.

Me too FLTW He needs a Navy Mom Group Hug for sure :-)

If you have small kids at home here are some ideas :-)

I know it is hard on all the moms, wives, etc but it is also hard on the little kids. They miss their big brothers and sisters or Dads and Moms so much and they just don't understand it all. I know some families have made it easier for them by making some kind of craft to help them count down the days until PIR. Some have made paper chains like are used at Christmas and they tear off a link every day. Others have used a small jar filled with marbles or pennies. One mom even used a jar filled with quarters and once a week they would take the quarters they had pulled out of the jar and go get an ice cream cone :-) There are lots and lots of creative ways to make it easier for the little ones. You can also do a picture collage of what they are doing while bro/sis/dad/mom is at bootcamp like going to the pool, the dentist, shopping, playing with a family pet, a picnic etc and then scan it onto the back of a letter each week. My mind is spinning with ideas :-)

No letter for me either.  It is getting harder, I try to stay busy and not think about it- but today was tough.

Srmproudmom - maybe in your next letter ask your SR to tell his fellow SR's in his division when they write their families to let them know about the site. I know they don't have time for idle chit chat, but it will give the SR's something to write about that will be encouraging for their parents. Does the make sense?
Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on July 11, 2012 at 9:33pm

Also it is still early and others will join this site daily right up until PIR as they find out about it so keep searching :-)

I know it seems that way srmproudmom but it really is just the luck of who gets on these groups and who doesn't. I only found 2 others when my daughter was in the performing division but next weeks PIR the 936 has a whole bunch from that division. Have you looked in the facebook groups as well? Here is the Navy Mom PIR friends group. I will post a comment there and see if I can find others in that DIV for you. https://www.facebook.com/groups/327167160695549/
