i found the facebook page for PIR 8/24/12.....and i joined....is that the facebook page ya'll are talking about for div 262/ship 11???
Just letting everyone know I made it home safely from vacation. It is always so welcoming to cross over into the mountains of NC and see everything look so green and alive. Glad to be home, excited to sleep in my own bed and happy to get back to more time on this site :-) I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. If anyone likes facebook and hasn't joined this group yet please check it out. there are a lot of members from several different PIR groups looking for others with recruits in their division. https://www.facebook.com/groups/327167160695549/
klh17 there's alot to do in San Antonio bus access very good delicious food.I was stationed at ft. Sam Houston there many years ago but also revisited when my brother graduated from Texas A & M 8 yrs ago. for those who's SR will having A school there.
MoMof4: Why not start a division discussion for 268 above in the Discussion Forum? Doesn't look like anyone started one for 268 yet! FTLW gave you instructions a few posts back!
p.s. Ladies, I don't think you will ever her your SRs complain that they received TOO MUCH mail! They may ask you to write more often....so send lots of it! They live for mail.
klh17: Be sure to join the San Antonio A School group on this site for answers to your questions specific to San Antonio.
ethansmom: My son also told me he wouldn't write because he didn't like writing, but he would call. I'm happy to tell you that I received 4-5 letters from him when he was there! So they change their minds! :-) Yes, they are busy, but they will find time to write when they can. Just remember, in the beginning, they usually can only write once a week.
RPO positions are planned for the duration of BC...but recruits can be "fired" from them...and they can also get it backl!
I have seen letters written home like "I'm #RPO...I got fired...guess what? I got it back!"
I also read once where the RDC's changed all of the RPO positions one day to let the recruits "see" how important COC is...it was chaos!. Hence, the reason for COC!
Here is a chart of the COC at RTC (Chain of Command):
Click to open in another page and zoom.
Here is the link to RTC website that explains all the RPO positions (Recruit Petty Officers):
http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/recruit_petty_officer.asp
Here is a pic of a Collar Device(I belive there are a different number of Chevrons depending on their postition) that the RPO's wear:
On the Chart RCPO(Recruit Chief Petty Officer) = ARPOC, RLPO(Recruit Lead Petty Officer = AROC
But it is too hard to yell... "RRRRCPO or RRRRLPO get your ________ in here"...So ARRRRRRPOOOC and ARRRRROC it is.
These positions are just for the duration of Boot Camp
MamaB - 50 miles falls within the RTC guidelines so I am sure it does for TSC GL. So yes...she can indeed go home! She will have to report back to TSC every night (no overnight Liberty yet on Phase I)...I believe it is 2200 hours (10PM)...this can always change. This means in her barracks by 2200 hours (earlier is better as on time...is late).
TSC will be your daughters new command so the Liberty Policies of TSC are what she fall under after she INDOC's on PIR day. I don't know if they "extend" (they are different for each Base) further out for that weekend...or for Phase I Liberty (it doesn't give a radius a I think as they areabridged)...which is what all new Sailors at GL TSC are on after INDOC.
Here is a link to their FB page...uhh...I don't FB so I am sorry I wouldn't begin to know where to post to ask over there.

I think ellen0502's son is there (sorry ellen0502 if I got that wrong) and maybe she knows1
candy - Quartermaster (QM) is a rating (occupational specialty...job).
"A" school is at GL TSC (Great Lakes Training Support Center) which is a part of Great Lake Naval Station and up the road a ways from RTC.
Here is a link to a Wikipedia that shows the Navy Ratings...scroll down to "Administration..." and they are listed alphabetically.

Here is one from military about.com

Congrads to yr son MOMOFTOM for Recruit Chief Petty Officer is this for the whole duration of basic or just for a week. When I was in the Army BC they called it Patrol Leader and someone was assigned each week. I was one of the lucky ones I had it the hardest week our last week a lot of pressure. Sure he'll be great Cody can use some extra talking to.
Hi all...my daughter's A school is at GL so I'm assuming she will have to report back on sunday night. How can I verify that? Also, we live just under 50 miles away, so will she be able to come home?
