Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Comment by ellen0502 on July 25, 2015 at 2:02pm: This is just a question and mostly out of curiosity for me, but have any of your recruits said their division is changing ships, or has changed ships? No worries about it, but there has been some movement with other TGs before and after this one, and there might not be with this one.

No worries if they will, have, or do, it seems to be a move to accommodate the number of recruits arriving. The RTC is filing up! :)

I do believe you are mistaken, Sarge's rates are $99 Round Trip from O'Hare to your hotel and back to the airport and $159.00 Round Trip from Midway to your hotel and back to the airport at the end of your trip. Plus he includes a Free ride to PIR and it's only $3.00 per person back to your hotel. Your Sailor would ride free.

The rates you have quoted are $88 and $124 each way for the airportexpress? So they are actually double. Please check with Sarge on what he would charge to pick you up and bring you to the airport to see your Sailor off. His contact number is 847-212-0246.

Comment by BrandyB on July 24, 2015 at 9:22am: DianneP - his rates are about the same so I do feel MUCH better. 88.00 from the airport to the hotel and 124.00 from hotel to airport.
Rate would have been the same bit we asked for a 330 am pick up. My son let us know he will also arrive at 3am, so we will have until our flight leaves to spend with him. Think his flight leaves sometime in the evening hours.
