N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Angela - If you have your Form Letter with you or don't but do remember the password AND the Hotel has a business center you can use you could print up a Vehicle Gate Pass that way.

If not and you still would like to drive to PIR you can park in the Metra Parking lot located just outside RTC. There is a small fee. 2-4 dollars I think.

The Metra Parking Lot is on Ohio Street, the street you turn onto to get to the gate for PIR.

When you turn onto Ohio Street off of Buckley just keep driving past the gate (gate 8) that you would enter RTC for PIR. It will dead end into the Metra Parking Lot.

When you first enter the lot there will be a ticket box to the very far left to purchase a ticket for your car. You'll need to park first, get the space number and then go buy the ticket and take it back to your car. ( I think that is what I did...it's been four years! Didn't use it for PIR just when I went to the Metra to check it out.)

Then you can walk back to Gate 8 and walk onboard RTC just like you would if you took a shuttle (the Shuttles drop off outside of RTC). No Vehicle Gate Pass needed.

Angela,

Get your rest and the shuttle will definitely take a load off of you!  Have a blessed PIR!!

We have arrived and look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow. I was brain dead upon arrival and spoke with another mom briefly, not that was one of you, I'm sorry I was so out of it. We forgot to print our parking pass but we may just take the shuttle instead. Going on 2 hrs sleep and a ton of travel time today , but super excited.

*you may be able to sneak. him a hug....

Comment by diannep on August 27, 2015 at 8:52am

Here's the even better news, Julie.  Since he can't march, he should be seated, in uniform, with others in the same position he is in (up all night!) in the balcony!  Yes, you can sit up there, just not in their section...but look for your new sailor!  You may bet to sneak him a hug before PIR starts....so....be EARLY to PIR!  Gates open at 6:30 a.m.

Safe travel for all today.  Enjoy Sarge's MeetandGreet tonight, be early for PIR tomorrow.  For those driving to PIR, here is a hint:

Stay to the left on Buckley....car line for RTC will be on your right.  Bypass RTC and turn around at the train station right past there....head back to RTC from the opposite direction, easy left turn onto RTC....no wait!

Enjoy!  .....and....Good Morning!

Sorry, missed the battlestations, not the PIR.
Comment by Julie on August 27, 2015 at 12:47am
Diannep, yes, my son got pink eye. I got a call from him this afternoon. He missed the PIR with his Div and has to go through Thursday night and should graduate Friday, but doesn't get to march in with his Div. Sad to hear, but I'm glad that I know what is going on now and that he will be graduating! Thanks, can't wait to see him. Congratulations everyone!
