While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Comment by diannep on August 26, 2015 at 8:36pm: Julie: If your son happens to be the one with pink eye, hopefully they get it clear by tomorrow night's BattleStations (next PIR group) and he will go with them. If he was going to miss PIR, he would have called you so go on no news is good news....if he is NOT the recruit with pink eye, I hope he can call you soon!

My son told me they all passed, however another mom has communicated that her son said there was a recruit with pink eye was not able to do battlestations with them. We weren't given the name. I would think/hope you would be notified if there was an issue. It's hard to be waiting...plan and hope for the best until you know anything different. And let us know when you get the phone call!

Comment by diannep on August 26, 2015 at 12:30pm: For those who may not have passed BattleStations, they go through again and pass. There is a very very small failure rate (usually for things like falling asleep)....Hoping that 288 calls today!

Comment by diannep on August 26, 2015 at 12:29pm: Julie, since some in 288 have posted that they went through, 287 went through also on Monday night. They are brother divisions and went through together. Not sure why they have not called yet....but they should be able to call later today...hopefully!

Comment by Julie on August 26, 2015 at 10:55am: Am I the only one with more anxiety then excitement right now? My son is in Div 287 and I haven't gotten the "I'm a sailor call". It sounds like nobody else from that group that had battlestations on Monday has heard anything either? Does anyone know anything? We are suppose to be boarding a plane tomorrow for PIR on Friday.

Remember, PIR is just the beginning of the Navy journey. Keep plugged into Navy for Moms where there are groups for A school, C school, ratings (jobs), bases, ships, states, regional, twins and multiples, and the "Christian Navy Moms" that I am a part of!

Also, the U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command page on Facebook puts up photos from each PIR. If you see your Sailor in a pic or more, you can download it to your own computer by either clicking on the picture, going down to Options and downloading it OR right click, "Save Picture As" to a file on your computer~~
