Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

How old is your son kim? My mom was apart of this group when my brother went through. That was 6 years ago. They would all talk often bc of them knowing each other in their division.

Thanks diannep:)  That is exciting news!  I was a little disheartened at first since it added additional time until we get to see him, but love the idea of getting that "I'm a Sailor"call!  Loving that I get to finally put a letter in the mail:)

KimQuads:  Posted this on the PIR group you just left, so copying/pasting here for you to see:

KimQuads:  Also, like ellen said, he probably is in one of the first 2 divisions of the next PIR group....which means....they will be the first to go through BattleStations and become sailors!  So there is always a plus side to some negative things!  :-)

Hi!

Welcome to Navy for Moms!!

My Sailor Daughter's PIR was March 2013--can't believe how fast time has flown!. She is an IT3 (Information Systems Technician, Petty Officer Third Class). I primarily provide scriptural encouragement for the PIR groups, Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and a few of the other groups that I am a member of. I'll also help out with anything that I am familiar with--all kinds of tidbits I learned during my daughter's Boot Camp experience~~ This site really made the time go much faster. I'm so thankful that my Sailor daughter sent me the link for this awesome group of friends when she enlisted!! Count 9 Fridays and before you know it, you'll be seeing your baby again at PIR!!  Here we go!!!

Hi. My son actually arrived at RTC 6/24 but was held for the 8/28 PIR since they were short recruits to make a division. Didn't get my form letter until today but am so happy to have a date to look forward to. Ship 03 Div 294. Can't wait to connect with you all!

Hi!!

Welcome to your PIR group!

My son graduated BC in April of 2012. He is an  ET, stayed in GL for A School, went to C School in San Diego. He has also had additional schooling and training since (an ETs learning is never done).  He is forward-deployed and is attached to is a Whidbey Island-class landing ship.

A few other veteran moms will be joining to help answer questions, offer support, and give you lots of information.

There will also be lots of pages posted with information for you along the way. They will be posted as the subjects come up!

Remember there are no dumb questions, so ask away!

Fasten your seatbelts...the next few weeks will be a roller coaster ride, but at the end of the ride you are in for the best hug ever!!
