Dianne, I have a really good friend who just bought a house near Titusville, (not sure the name of the city) and I was shocked at the amount of insurance that they have to carry.  It was outrageous!.  They only got whatever the minumum coverage was that they had to have.

AMEN, Candace.---and al0251---lots of prayers for us that the storm doesn't intensify and keeps turning more north north north!  Facing a hurricane this week at the same time I have my oldest son trying to move back in here...just too much going on! YIKES!  Citizens just reinspected my house last week...hoping to get credit for my new roof.  Ladies, we pay a FORTUNE down here in windstorm insurance for these storms.  I have now dropped all coverage of my "personal belongings" and just have structure coverage....and it still cost me almost $3,000/yr.  Homeowners (separate) has gone up too...mine has doubled in 2 yrs. For me, it is almost $5,000/yr for the two of those...ugh...don't even get me started on the cost of auto insurance down here, even if you have never had an accident nor ticket (like me)... It is not CHEAP to live in S. Florida!
