When my son called, he said that he will be leaving the Friday after they graduate, BUT being the holiday AND the military, things could very well change. We booked our flight to leave on Sunday just in case he won't fly out until that next week. We don't want to take the chance of missing any time with him, you ( and me ) probably won't know the exact details of our SR's liberty until the DAY they graduate.
Betsy will be a good one to answer that question, ProudAVMom. So hoping she sees your message!
Shel: Some of them are helpful in PAO, but others aren't. I'm sure they are swamped with calls each day. I would try not to worry. Seems like there are always some going to the hospital briefly, but most N4Moms don't find out about it until they are already out. Just know that they are giving him good medical attention and hopefully he will be back to training soon! He may already be? Didn't you hear this in a letter?
diannep-veteran: Thanks for your response. I've made sure that my daughter has heard nothing from me except happy and encouraging news.
She was depressed that she wasn't getting much mail (except from me) so I wrote my local newspaper and asked everyone to send her letters and cards of encouragement. I don't know if anyone will respond, but I hope they do. It would sure help her feel better.
As a veteran myself (Army), one of the things I told her when she called, was how much I still use the lessons I learned in basic training. It helped her to understand that I'd been were she is right now.
Thanks everyone for letting me know that it's not personal. I'll just be glad when they get to the "build them up" part.
I called PAO (like the person I talked to last night told me to do this morning) and she was REALLY rude! She said, "there are no interruptions on his record, maybe he had a cold" I just asked if maybe they had not put it in yet, she yelled at me and said "no" I was talking overly nice because I thought maybe she would calm down. The last time I called PAO for my husbands orders so I could get him off of my benefits, they were really really nice.
I ended up calling the recruiting office that he signed up with. They were nice.
Thank you bre (is it ok if I call you bre?)
And I mean public affairs office... sorry thinking of how I don't want to go to work today and just want to find out how he is.
Hi ShelMaq,
I will be praying for you and your husband. I'm sure if it was bad, you would have heard from him by now so stay positive.
