So good to see some of you are starting to get calls. I know what a relief it is to just hear their voice. PIR is not that far away now. The time will begin to pass much faster. Keep writing those letters :-)

boilermom:  Let's see....yelling and blisters....yep, that seems about right for this point in bootcamp!  It gets better for him...keep encouraging...week 4 is the turnaround week....yelling lets up, blisters heel!  :--)

Yeah, thanks all! Every morning I wake up and I try to repeat the line "No news is good news Brit!" lol. I agree with you all, I know before my SR left for boot he was talking about how he'll most likely get sick due to the stress + vaccines + germs + fatigue and so on. His older brothers were both really sick when they went to boot so I'm hoping it's not too bad and they all can push through it!

JapanMom-

I have been out of the country and not had access to a computer.  My son also is in div 287.  We received a letter while I was gone.  He said he has been yelled at a lot  and he has a lot of blisters.

magnoliagirl!  DON'T send the seasoning!  He will be ITing for days if you do!

Ladies, don't worry about "divisions not coming together" yet.  It happens on every PIR group.  They all eventually do.  Some just take longer than others...

Hang in there, BritneyMarie.  This is the toughest part of bc...right now....for them and for you all. It is the "breaking down" process....remember how many are there, all of different ages, different backgrounds, life experiences, goals...the RDCs have to get them on the same page so they can be a team and become sailors.  Not an easy task for them, but they do it well!  We may not agree with some of the ways they do it, but it works and they know what they are doing....so just know that if your SRs are discouraged right now, your jobs are to keep them encouraged.  Remind them that by training week 4, things get better and they become sailors after week 6!  A School is nothing like bc too...much better.  So just keep encouraging!

My take on on the illnesses at bc:

Lots of bodies+lots of germs+stress in training+fatigue+homesickness+so many vaccinations at one time into their bodies = RICKY CRUD (the general term for the sickness they get there).  Gets better in A School in that area too!

Good Morning ladies.

@brejones & magnoliagirl, in regards to letters.  Have you mailed out a questionnaire?  My son sent one of the ones I sent him back with some hilarious answers and some very informative ones.  I included serious questions along with some silly ones to add levity.  I had some multiple choice and then some where I provided space for him to write in the answer.  Also, it seems to be a 5-6 day delay from the day we mail out stuff to when he receives it.

One question I asked was What's the best thing that happened to you, and he filled in the answer with something his Sr. RDC does, which made me feel so much better about what's going on over there.

So, at any rate, the questionnaire, might be the way to go, they don't have to try and think up what to write.   Oh and I titled the first questionnaire.... Questionnaire to Help Mom Deal.

Here's a link to a sample one.  http://www.navyformoms.com/group/pir09012011/forum/topics/boot-camp...   You can modify or shoot, just make up your own with all the questions you want answers too along with goofy stuff to make him laugh.
