So, for our group....we should expect our "I'm a sailor call" either 8/23 or 8/6?

Remember...they are finished training and ready for BattleStations at 6-5 or 7-1 (Week/Day).  And as Sparkeys said, you need to know when their 1-1 (Week/Day) was and then you can figure it out.  Weekends/holidays do not count and the days number 1-5.  Their day numbers will be on the same weekday--- from week to week...just week number obviously changes.

he should be in his second week..they push them out in 7-8 weeks. They took out 'service week' to give the SR's more training time, and depending on how fast processing took...

Happily I received many letters in one envelope today. I practically danced in from the mailbox! He sounds good and that 's a relief for us here at home. Can't wait to see more letters next week.

Glad to hear you received your letters Cranny - I am expecting (hopefully) a letter tomorrow from my SR tomorrow - last week we received it on thursday.  Ughh - it is such a long week in between letters.  I am anxious to see him.

wellen, Coronado is very beautiful and I'm sure your SR will love it there.  :)  Prior to my sailor shipping out to BC we took a road trip there together.  He is now hoping to be stationed there after he finishes his A school.

I called GL this morning to try and verify when they will leave for A school ( mine to Coronado) after PIR. The kind woman said usually they leave the following morning (Friday for us) they have to report directly to base and then it's up to SanDiego what Liberty they will have. Guess those flight plans will change.  PLEASE don't take this as gospel, she said you need to hear it from your SR and they might not even know yet.

Letters > a very good friend of ours is a Chief on a Sub and pushed boots (he was a RDC) at GL for about 4 years, this is what he posted on my FB wall last night.

"You have to be patient momma, they only have about a two hour period to write letters each week. And even that usually doesn't happen the first week."

I too wait for the mail lady, I about stalk her..lol. The letters will come, I haven't gotten my first one yet, but hoping to this week. Keep writing your SR's no matter what, I send something out everyday, I've gone to the dollar store and picked up cards 2/$1, and they are great for putting pics in. *fingers crossed for all moms that letters start arriving soon*
