Karla-My son is in Div 287 and I believe they are the sister/brother divisions.  I talked to my son on Monday as he needed information for his clearance.  He said that they had just recieved mail privileges and would be able to send mail this coming Sunday so no mail for 287 parents until next week!  I will keep my fingers crossed though that 288 got to send mail this last Sunday!

Karla...my son is not in this division but does have the same PIR date as her son. I have talked to a lot of different people that have SR's graduating the same day as ours and no one has received a letter or phone call from their SR's yet. Everyone is hoping to receive a letter this week. They should have been able to write on Sunday. As hard as I know it is...let your friend know that no news...is good news and hopefully we will hear from them this week!

Hi Ladies. I'm looking for someone who might know something about Ship 12 DIV 288. I'm trying to get some information for a friend. The Recruit's mother found this forum to be a little overwhelming and his fiance isn't a member yet. This is my question: Has anyone heard from their Recruit yet from this Ship/DIV? And does anyone have any information they'd like to share so I can pass it on. I appreciate your help in this matter.

diannep-veteran is correct on that everyone wears different things.  Here is my take on it.  PIR is a formal ceremony and I really think people should dress for the occassion.  I think you should wear a nice outfit.  Maybe wear the division tshirts to the meet-n-greet the night before.  You will want to take pictues with your SR and you will want to look nice in the pictures with them.

lol, well, at least he was happy! and that sounds great ty dianne for your info!

Thanks, Lala!

And, yes, Proud AVMom and kresgeball:  You can wear the div tshirts to PIR if you like.  Dress code is "nice casual", basically, but you will see a little bit of everything there!  Some really dress up (the sailors will be in their Navy finest) and others are "nice casual", and others obviously forgot to get totally dressed!  We were there in the dead of winter...and were shocked at what some had on...one man in ragged (VERY!) cut off jeans, a tank top, and flip flops!  But he was happy!  :-)

I too, will be ordering the division t-shirts, so I'm also assuming that they will be appropriate to wear to PIR????

Dianne, I just asked my Sailor when she called during her lunch break and they only get mail Monday through Friday while at boot camp. Or as least that was how it was in the performing DIV she was in. I am sure it is probably the same for all of them.
There is no dress code you can wear what you want. Some dress up, some wear tank tops and shorts. Most dress casual.
