Thank you Dianne!  I will add Alumni to our group upon completion of PIR.  We are driving so we are headed out this evening to get as much time under our belt as possible and finish the drive tomorrow.  See you all at the finish line!  :-)

I just got my call!! My baby is a Sailor! I guess she isn't a baby anymore! She sounded very hoarse, tired, and proud. She said everyone in her division (287) passed. She said there were two girls who didn't do Battlestations, but everyone who did it, passed. She also said that since she's going to A school across the street from where she is now, she has to go straight there after PIR and get everything straight and then come back to where the parents will be waiting in a "holding" area. Does anyone know what that's about or anything about that procedure?

Diannep, the calls you just referred to do not incl. 818 and 819...correct? Do you mean change the greeting on cell phones if we're flying?

Jodybrock...amen to that, if that call comes, I'l be in the air!

Comment by diannep on August 30, 2011 at 2:15pm
Hoping the "I'm a Sailor" calls start in the next 30 minutes or so.  Phones close by!
Comment by diannep on August 30, 2011 at 2:13pm

jodybrock;  Happens alot.  We tell everyone to change their cell phone to greet their new sailor if they will be flying when the call may come in.  Remember, even if they fail (and a very small percentage does...like just a handful, if any, per night) then they repeat BattleStations before PIR.  I have never heard of anyone missing PIR because of failing BattleStations...but I they do miss it for not passing the PFA in time.

There have been families who have arrived there to find out their SR is not a sailor.  Again, because of the PFA.  The ones who have contacted me were granted 2 hours with their SR.  But of course, no liberty.  If they fail their PFA, they are supposed to call you and tell you that.  So no news is good news!

Comment by jodybrock on August 30, 2011 at 1:46pm

I don't get how the BS can be at the last minute! What if, by some horrible reason, a SR doesn't graduate? And their family is already enroute to PIR? So frustrating!!!!

Or the family is in the air during the "I'm a sailor" phone call? Ugh!!! I am just want to hear the words!!!

Comment by diannep on August 30, 2011 at 1:27pm
DiverMom:  Just wanted to suggest that after PIR, you add to the group name :ALUMNI so all can keep in touch on here!  Better to do that than to create another group for Alumni.
