Still waiting for the mail!  This time around has been a little harder.  Last year when my son went in I worked full time and I was really busy with work and getting my husband ready to deploy.  This time I haven't gotten a job yet and I am restless and it seems like I am more anxious just waiting for that form letter.  I have definately cried a lot more.

Navy Lodge is only for Navy families.  About a mile from the base (no PIR shuttle but you can drive to RTC or take a cab).  Price is very reasonable.  Some have kitchenettes, if available.  Google "Navy Lodge Great Lakes" for more info!

We booked Quality Inn and got a good rate, $59 for Queen plus pull out couch bed (our older daughter might come for grad but is on a new job and not sure if she can get the time off). One of the main reasons we booked there is that they have frig/micro in the unit and we like to pick up snacks, yogurt, sandwiches, etc. so we don't have to eat out every meal. Saves a little $ also. We did hear from several of the hotels we checked that they are booking up fast because of the holiday weekend. We are flying SW because it is early and we want to make sure we can change if necessary. Box finally came on Saturday, letters seem to be faster than packages with our mail system (she left 7/6) ... looking forward to the first real letter or call from her.

Hi ladies,

What is the Navy Lodge? Is it cheaper than the hotels. Is it near the bc? Please advise. Trying to find cheap hotels and flights for PIR 9/1. Thanks Live in Atl.
