veryproud - ask if someone wants to take over the reins for you here or in a pm.  What you would do is still be a part of the group but make someone else an admin person.  You do not want to delete your profile as it may delete the entire group because you created it but diannep can verify that.  We are sad to hear about your son being discharge as we know how difficult it can be for them to handle the lose of a dream they had but it just means that they are meant to do something else. We wish you and your son well.

A word of advice for you is to not make any travel arrangements until at least half way through BC as many things can change the PIR date for your recruit such as injuries, discharge, illness and many other things.  You can book hotels rooms now but wait a bit to book the flights.  When thinking about flying look into flying into Milwaukee as it can save you lots of money and is the same distance to the base as from Chicago. I want to also add that you should book for the whole weekend as they fly out as flights are available which means they can fly out anytime from Sat on, even into the following week.

You are just beginning your journey and will learn so much on this site, if you know what job -  Nuke, SAR, etc. join those groups also and you will learn and make more new friends.

Remember that this journey is just as much about you being in training as it is for our recruits.  Things change, schedules change, they can not always tell you everything, there will be times when you do not hear from them for a while, there will be ups and downs and everything in between, they will see people drop, leave the service, rollback and finish their training.  Focus on today and learn not to worry about tomorrow.  Always be encouraging and uplifting even when your heart is breaking, they do not need to be worrying about us and how we are dealing with things.  This journey is a difficult one for the ones at home and not knowing what is going on and hard to grasp when you are still so new to it, relax and breathe and it will get better.

Live your life as normal as possible, come to this site for support but do not stress over phone calls, letters and how they are doing.  Phone calls get missed or not made, it is not the end of the world even though it may feel like it at that moment.  We have wonderful recruits and who are on a new journey in their life and we need to be okay with the not knowing what is going on and not hearing from them as this may happen from time to time during their time in the Navy, the sooner you are okay with this the better for them as they do not need to know that we are stressing or worried about them.

This is the job that they have chosen and some of us have jobs that do not allow us to have phone calls at work, the same holds true for them, they will call when they can and after BC it does get better but there may be times when it gets worse.  We are so used to knowing everything about what they are doing and having instant contact, that it can be hard to break that habit but it will get better, hang in there and before you know it you will be at PIR.

If you are sad, lonely, missing them, angry or many other emotions come here where we know how you feel and we can lift you up.

It was fun ladies but I got.official word today that my daughter PIRs on 8/26. I don't know why even though she arrived same day as some of yours.

Ladies, a headsup that was emailed to me today from someone who attended PIR yesterday.  It was COLD inside the PIR hall so bring a sweater!

Sparkeys:  No, it is not too early to book your hotel.  We recommend that you all book your hotels early...with Six Flags nearby, they fill up especially fast in the summer.  There is no penalty if you cancel/change...unless you book through Expedia or something like that maybe.  Those needing larger suites (like Residence Inn has) need to book now!  Those 2 bdrm 2 bths go fast!

I totally agree with Fireteamleaderswife.  Division discussion groups need to be on this page for sure!  Just click on "Add a Discussion" and begin!

DiverMom:  Please move your Div 819 discussion group to the top of this page.  Just put a note on your one in BootCamp or delete it if many aren't on it yet.  It is much easier for you all to stay connected to this main board (where you will be getting LOTS of info from each other and from us veterans).

In fact...EVERYONE please start your discussion forums up in the Discussion Forum of this group.
Comment by FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW on July 15, 2011 at 8:53pm
Also, for everyone...you don't have to do this, bit we suggested it...you can add your ship/div to your N4M name.
Comment by FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW on July 15, 2011 at 8:51pm
Miss Brady,
Please do not start your own "group". What you can do is go to the discussion forum on this group and start a discussion for your SHIP/DIV. Just click "Add discussion", type in your ship/div as the title, and add a short intro in the box below it. Then others from your ship/div will join in. This way you are not hopping around too much. It is very important to stay on this main page as that is where your whole TG will be (at least those on N4M) and also the veterans who are here to help you.

There seem to be 5 or 6 of us with 11/282. Do we have our own mini group yet? We are also thinking about booking flight and hotel. Anyone decide yet where you will be staying?
