Wow this group did not waste any time finding out about the ribbons I make lol. I have several emails from moms/wives in this group wanting to order ribbons but they have to wait on the form letter. :) I look forward to making the ribbons for this group.
Be aware if you have a front door that you don't use (maybe you go in through the garage) the fedex guy will leave the box on your porch.

Dianne is so right about us usually knowing more than they do.  lol  I found that out when I called RTC once about a Christmas stand down situation that happened when my son was going to graduated BC.   I had information about them possibly coming home after PIR and I called RTC to verify that.   They had no information on it yet and they were less than cordial when I said that I was told that they could indeed come home.  They actually told me that the Navy4moms did not have correct information.  I then told them that I didn't even get the information from Navy4moms, lol.  :)   They kept telling me that what I was telling them was not the way that they did things and they did not think that would happen.   I had to call back the next day (after she said she would have to look into what I had told her) and I thoroughly enjoyed the woman eating crow on the phone, when she had to say that she had verified what I had told her and that my information was correct to begin with.  :)

The reason that they delete info about NavyforMoms on RTC FB is because they cannot confirm/endorse the info we provide here.  Navy personnel are not supplying this info...it is just us little civlians and some former military/current active military!  So they don't want people coming over here thinking that all that we post is Navy-endorsed...plus...we may know more than they do in many cases!  :-)

When your SRs give you the week/day number they are on, mark that down on your calendar.  Remember, weekends and holidays do not count.  The days are numbered 1-5.  By 6-5 (week 6, day 5), they usually have completed training and are ready for BattleStations.  They PIR in week 7.

So if Thurs (yesterday) was 1-1 for one division (actually...for that division and its brother division), then today is 1-2 and Monday will be 1-3, Tues 1-4, Wed 1-5. Thurs will start week 2....2-1. You can then keep up on where they are in training.  Just check fireteamleaderswife's post below of "week by week of bootcamp", couple it with your SR's division schedule, and you will know what they are doing and when!

Me again,

I posted info on Jokes and such to send to your SR up in the discussion area.

As you may already know there is a special way to send your SR mail.

We recommend no colored envelopes (My SR never mentioned a problem. This is usually up to their RDC's like/dislike!). No bulky envelopes...they'll have to open it front of the RDC (contraband). No packages-again opened in front of RDC-if it contains edibles it will be thrown out or consumed by RDC's!

Definitely, no musical cards! We've heard stories about what happens with these from-dancing or IT while they play; sometimes until the batteries run out!

Sometimes moms have sent newspaper articles only to hear that they are thrown out before the SR can read them.

So, that being said here is what we do...copy Pics, jokes, puzzles(I did word searches), cartoons ( I did color with no problem but again that was my Sailors RDC's), drawings( little bros and sisters like to do this...moms too!), ON THE BACK of your letters. This keeps the envelope smaller.

We also recommend typing in 14 pt. font. Ummm...NO SR would ever dream of doing this (wink) but there is a red light on at night after lights out (think Naval vessel) that they sometimes read too. So no red ink either. I did hand write some to make it "homey".

I know it seems "plain" but the "back of the letter" thing helps.

Happy Writing!

Ladies!

I posted a link to the Family Guide and Family FAQ that are on the RTC website.

This website is where you will go eventually to print out your Gate Passes for PIR. Your honor grads will be listed here (but not until about 2 days before PIR-those of you that will have honor grads will be notified by the Navy as you will get to sit up front!)

So explore around on it a bit. On the links is where you will find the one for the RTC FB page. [[CAUTION: DO NOT post for people to come over here-it WILL be deleted. We don’t know why…Navy4Moms is sponsored by the Navy…??? My recruiter GAVE me a pamphlet about ANvy4moms with a little magnet on it…I had already beat him too it though! ;-)]] Here you can go and hook up with people if you FB. You can also sometimes find your SR (or at least his/her DIV) on the photo wall in the coming weeks. RTC posts Pics fairly regularly of daily goings on. I believe there is some kind of challenge question every Tuesday…I don’t know what the winner gets. I do not FB.

The Family Guide has general standard info about PIR; your form letter does also.
