For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Comment by diannep on July 13, 2011 at 2:51pm: Many times, when there is a holiday weekend, they will have PIR on Thurs. This is Labor Day weekend.

Also, wanted to say...even if your SR tells you that he/she is flying out the next day for A School, still book your reservations through Sun or Mon...because in the Memorial Day group, the Pensacola group was told this, and then it changed and they had the weekend. Thank goodness most of the ladies on here had followed this advice and had reservations through the weekend.

By the way, if you book on Southwest, there is no change fee and the first 2 checked bags are free. They fly into Midway (Chicago) and Milwaukee. Milwaukee fare may be a bit cheaper and it is a little closer to RTC than Midway is.

HOWEVER, it could happen so you are wise to plan that way! I think that happened for the Memorial Day group...I know it did for some of the ones headed to Pensacola! Fingers crossed!

Comment by ashngaly on July 13, 2011 at 1:54pm: My fiance left 7/7 but haven't received his forum letter yet. We received his box yesterday and am hoping to receive his letter soon. I am praying he will graduate 9/1 so we will get Thursday through Monday with him. He went to bc woth a diver contract
