N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Thanks everyone! I guess I'll just have to wait and find out next week when I see him :)

Yep,Sophie, I agree with FTLW.  It does happen sometimes, especially  those being held waiting for a waiver....

Good Morning All !

Comment by CatMom509 on August 27, 2015 at 2:34am

Sophie,

Never heard of that, especially for SRs going to Pensacola. They almost always fly out on Saturday (or the rare Sunday if there are not enough seats on outgoing flights.)

Comment by FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW on August 27, 2015 at 2:18am

Sophie - Unfortunately only your boyfriend can answer that. There are many reasons that some new sailors get held over at RTC before going to their A school.

Some of those are : awaiting clearance, conduct a special physical, waiting to class up if there is no housing available at the "A" School, to wait for a waiver due to a medical issue or for some other reason.

IF that happens to a new Sailor they transfer to a new Ship that has a temporary hold unit or THU.

See this link to a PAGE on Boot Camp Moms group (the abbreviations are listed alphabetically, so scroll down to THU):

What does ??? mean? (A Guide to Navy Abbreviations and Terminology)

So my boyfriend earned a call today for keeping up with his RDC on a run (so proud!) and called his sister. He told her he might be staying in Great Lakes for another week after graduation before flying to Pensacola. Any idea why this might be? His call wasn't long enough to explain why.

Lae - Not sure of exactly what you are looking for, so I will answer as best I can and then you can add another question if need be.

If a Recruits PIR date changes, no they do not come home. They will be moved to a new Division within the Training Group for that PIR date in order to complete the Boot Camp process.

That's the simple answer. Details will be different depending on what exactly is going on t=with the Recruit.

Recruits never come home if their is an interruption in training. There are all kinds of programs for medical, academic, physical and administrative interruptions during BC.

I hope that answers your questions. If not, please ask another. If you would like to ask something in confidence...please feel free to contact any of us veteran moms privately. You will have to Friend them to do that. :-)

What happens when recruits PIR date changes because of a failed test ? Can they come home ?
Comment by Becky on August 26, 2015 at 8:47pm

Another question - How can I access the link for the PIR ceremony - or where can I find it?  My mom is not able to travel and I want to make sure she can watch online.  Figured she could practice accessing this coming Friday as I believe 943 will be performing again.  Thanks
