(((hugs))) to FTLW, ellen0502 and dianeep! I truly appreciate your efforts to train and educate us (moms). Your wealth of navy knowledge and wllingness to share information is a valuable service. I know you have helped me understand what our SR's are going through and what we were to expect. I'll say prayers for our loved ones having difficulties and all the others to keep them safe. I can hardly wait to see them marching in and recognizing my sons walk, for that's the only way that I'll find him since they all will look alike.

ellen:  If they are in FIT division for failing PFA, they will not have another PIR if they don't make their own.  Just wanted to make sure the ladies are clear on that.  The only time they will have another PIR is if they are asmoed (setback) and then put back in another PIR group/division at a later date for further training.  In that case, they will have a PIR.

That is why we tell the ladies to please go to PIR if possible even if their SR has not passed yet (that they know of) because then they usually can get a 2 hr visit with their SR on PIR Day.

Recruits are ONLY set back on and individual basis...not as a division. Official Status changes like set backs (asmo)are done by phone call as writing would take too long. I am thinking your recruit just may be very busy...sometimes we can see a change in letter writing near the end of PIR. If your recruit has made no indication of not passing something in previous communications...I would remainin "no news is good news" mode. :-) Big ((hugs))!

All of your comments have been really helpful. My SR is in ship 9 div 287, I usually got about 3 letters a week but now have into gotten one, but haven't recieved anymore info about PIR. If some SRs in the Div don't pass does that mean all of them do not get PIR? And are they not allowed to write either unless their status changes? I'm a little worried and confused:/

As long as PIR is within your finances...I always encourage to go. I do not mean to make anyone feel bad if they cannot. There is a DVD available for purchase as well.

Like diannep and FTLW said still plan on going and yes call the PAO if you haven't heard.

When my son was in BC there were six SRs in his division and brother division that had failed one test or another. The week before BS and PIR several of them had called home to say they were being taken out of their division and would have PIR at a later date. At that point it was difficult for them to "leave" and difficult for those watching them leave.

The Monday before PIR and the day of BS they could hear their RDC yelling down the hall, "Hurry up, get your things stowed, you have two hours." It confused those in the ship, they had no idea what was going on.

Around the corner came all six of those who had been moved out, they had all passed what was needed and were brought back for BS that night, and to graduate as planned. One of them had just passed his swim test that morning. Lots of cheering went up in those two divisions

Now, that doesn't always happen, but it can. Those ladies who were called and told the PIR date had changed the week before kept their original plans to attend, hoping to at least visit with their SRs for a few.

So keep those plans. Your SRs are given all the additional help they need and are given every opportunity to succeed.

Elana71 - What rating (job) is your son going to A school for...the Liberty Policies are different for each base...and they have INDOC, may be on hold etc...before they even are in Phase I. You will be able to visit...it just may not be right away...and I am pretty sure not that weekend when they first arrive...but eventually :-)

Recruits that fly out for their A schools will be able to go on Liberty directly after PIR...which ends at 10:30. Then they will have to report back to RTC anywhere between 7-9 PM (maybe later but not sure). So they have all day. We have heard of a few that end up with watch...but not as common.

Occasionally, some of the recruits that fly out may get a leave date of Sunday rather than Saturday, giving them an extra day of Liberty. This is due to scheduling and flight availability. It does not happen every PIR...it did happen to me...we had PIR on Memorial Day weekend and it was on Thursday...my son called on Tuesday two days before PIR( he was in an early Division and did BS21 before Captains Cap....so I knew he was a Sailor) while I was flying over that his plans had changed...up until then I though he was leaving Friday. Luckily, I had booked through until Sunday afternoon! From the advice of my veteran mommas!
