Try not to worry about the running....they will get several chances prior to PIR to pass it.  Even if they don't make it before their division does BattleStations, they will still get to try (within the FIT group).  Most make it before PIR.  They would pass the run, then do BattleStations with another group and be at PIR.

If they don't make it before their PIR, they stay in FIT group until they do, go through BattleStations then with another group, and head straight to A School....no PIR.

So lots of prayers that they have wings on their feet to get it done!

Tinker...we are in the same boat. ship 9 div 287.  Our son has been sick and we got a letter stating he's failed the running portion, too. Scary feeling that they could be delayed from Graduating.  We have been saying prayers everyday that he will pass with flying colors. I will pray for your SR , too.

I wonder how many others are in the same (boat) ship as me.  I'm all ready to fly out on the 6th and received a letter from My SR yesterday saying he's anxious of failing the running test and could be asmo'ed. He improved his time on the second run so I'm keeping my fingers crossed and saying prayers for him and all the others. The good thing is he is determined to make it.

OH ok thank you so much! I had no idea. That takes some worry off of me!

Page, your sailor will be required to wear Navy issued clothing at all times until he phases up in A School, this will take at least two weeks, so no civies before then.

There are also "regulations" on what civies they can wear once phased. Blue and white t-shirts must have something printed on them (no plain ones). The bottom of their pants cannot touch the ground etc.

As far as what to bring to airport for A school gets confusing because what are they suppose to wear for the whole time they are there? I know they will be getting free days whilst there so what are we suppose to do ship all their clothes at a later date? ugh

Yes Diannep I do believe that is correct. My son made Recruit Athletic Petty Officer. I don't believe that has changed so I hope he is still liked ;-/ LOL

sharbear36(ship 9 div 288) - Below is a link I used to find the 50 mile radius. We are in Muskego and are within it! Yay!!!! What day did your SR go to MEPS? I was just wondering if our Sr's went in on the same day. Mine was 7-10-12.  50 mile radius of RTC

Comment by diannep on August 24, 2012 at 1:16pm

Happyfeet is correct, rhonda.  Although some may slip the new undies on during liberty, if you are giving them more than one pair, you will need to make the exchange at the airport if they are flying out....or.....when they return from liberty after moving over to GL A School base.
