...and we can strengthen them to some extent...maybe overcome some...just depends.
mryer465 - The first three weeks of BC are the hardest...I will keep your SR in my prayers that "this will pass" and he adusts if this is the path he should be on.
I don't believe having anxiety about something is "weak"...I do believe that we have weaknesses...but they don't define who we are...it is a part of a whole.
Huge GIGANTIC {{HUGS}} to you!
Every one of these SRs, including those who are being separated, need to know that as Lala and others said, we are so thankful that they enlisted to serve their country. This is a military "first" where there are so many enlisting now, that they are very overmanned. I pray for that for each SR separated, there is a clear new path for them where they can use the whole bootcamp experience to become successful on that path.
mryer: Hoping you hear something soon from your SR, and pambrose.....thanks for being a part of this group and prayers/blessings to you and your son in his next venture....
I won't even pretend to know what it takes to become a Sailor and I am so proud of every single one of young men and women you try to reach that goal. It takes a lot of heart and determination. And even if that goal is not reached they are still to be commended for putting forth that effort. I don't think you could label anyone as weak who is willing to join the military to fight for and protect all of us. I have been helping on this site for more than 2 years and I think this is the first time I have heard of three recruits (from the same PIR group with families on this site) at the same time being in danger of being sent home. I want you all to know that you and your recruits are in my thoughts and prayers. I hope they are able to continue and if not I am sure these strong young recruits will find something else that they were meant to be doing and whatever it is I am sure they will give it their all. Please tell them that I said thank you so much choosing to protect our country.
Oh pambrose...I am so sorry. Sending you a friend request...if I can help in any way. I will repost the SHIP 5 group link that Angie gave earlier. There are some very supportive moms who have gone through this on there.
Mine either as a long time wife. Only want to help and help you all understand anything you want to know that is in my range of knowledge to explain.
So much would have been easier for me if I had had a support system along the way...there were no books or anything to read either.
The last thing I would want to do is disrespect any of you.
I agree Angie...it is hard...but I agree. And along with you...I would never think anyone was weak for not being able to handle the military or if they had a medical reason that disqualifies them.
These are not fun subjects but do get brought up.
I have been a spouse for 28 years...but I can't "know" what it is like to "walk in my husband’s boots" any more than he can understand what it is like for me to have 3 C-sections. He was there for those at least and went through his own experience as a husband going through it...but he can't "know”. The most frustrating thing about deployment has been that I can't even "walk where he has walked". To at least "see" where he was.But that's not my role.
My dear hubby has taken me "along for the ride" (literally) through as much of both his "careers" as he can (he is in Law enforcement for his "real" [LOL] job) ...even then, I view it from my aspect... not as someone who does what he does.
This last deployment he was on an air base for 6 months...never stepped one foot off of it. He is an NCO with a lot of responsibility. He just received a medal the other day for his performance over there (on a side note...I am one proud mama that our Sailor wore his uniform for the occassion!). Even after 32 years of being together...he impresses me. To read it brings tears to my eyes. I could never do that...handle it. Add to that dealing with personnel issues on a daily basis...the stress is incredible, formidable...and it takes.it's.toll.
He doesn't "bring his work home" in other words...he doesn't treat us like "suspects"...or a "troop". So I would say... that he is "designed" to do what he does.
mryer465 - I saw the discussion you set up...I am sending you a friend request, k?
