bethr:  So so sorry....I missed my son's call when in a gym class once when he was there up there too!  UGH!  No call back....I was totally freaked.  I googled the number he called from and found out it was the Medical office of RTC.  UGH!  Then I was really scared!  What was that?  I didn't hear from him again for a few days, maybe longer.  When I asked about the call, he said it was a call from Medical (knew that) about something that he resolved with the medical staff.....Wheeew....huge relief.

Just to let you know...the SRs are really wonderful in "sharing" their phone cards with those who may not have one yet...or have run out and haven't gotten another one yet (they can buy them at the NEX).

I know your heart is breaking....maybe write extra extra letters, cards and let him know that you think of him all of the time (which I know you probably already do!)....I'm sure they understand that there are times when a phone call will be missed....but I know that doesnt' help your broken heart right now.

Just know....the next call will be wonderful!

By the way, in the gym, you may want to keep the phone in your bra...on vibrate.  Seriously....I started to do that...I got to where I hated that phone for being attached to me all of the time and not ringing....but it was worth it when he finally did call (on home phone!).

Also, ladies, remember to have that phone with you when checking the mailbox and in the bathroom too.  Ladies have missed calls during those times!

Hang in there, beth.  Hoping another call comes soon from him.

I finally got my form letter.  Whew.  Now comes the shocker.  On the list to invite, he chose me, his sister and my soon to be ex, his father.  There is a slot for one more.  He has all his best guy friends that I have mentioned on here that he has grown up with, a cousin(who thinks he's coming) and a best girl...friend that he lived with the last weeks he was here due to my divorce and our house being foreclosed.  Long story, anyway.....he chose a girl that is his friend but now I'm beginning to wonder why he chose her.  Don't get me wrong, this is his choice and I support it but it's quite the surprise. I don't know what to make of it at all.  I think there are definitely going to be hurt feelings but the people that wanted to see him are coming to the hotel with me anyway but I guess I'm just shocked it wasn't family.  Am I to think that they were more than just friends?  I mean, she got a letter yesterday too. She did do all the last activities I had for him before he left and they didn't ever show affection other than hugs and tears which everyone did.  He has never hidden a girlfriend from me so I can't believe that would be it.  Hmmmmmmm  Inquiring mom minds want to know.  Need to go to the main Boot Camp page too and see if any veteran moms heard of this happening.  Shocking names being on the list.....lol.

I just sent calling cards to my nephew. I told him to give some to people that did not have any. He sounded good said it was a lot better now.

When I "went through" it was an eye opening experience...first one to leave the house...realized that I had to really be a mom of and "adult child"...easy to do when he isn't running around the house! Now, mine is home as he is a reservist...so it has been different!

I got accused of being a "hovering mother" once many years ago.... Me?! Naawwwww...LOL

Thanks sharbear!

Yeah...I thought about the cost after I posted of course...I already have those things around!

You could always scrapbook or something with the extra photos that you get!

Navygf, I went to Walgrees, they have a sale right now if you get 50, they are .15 but are about .33 each, now you get the same picture on one 4x6 but if you have other people you can give them to or it's cheap enough to take one for you and one for him and disregard the other 2.  I don't know, I got 50 yesterday and spent 7 bucks, the worst part was how time consuming it was.  I am able to use the other 3 pictures to give to his friends but I know not everyone can, I just think by the time I would have bought paper and ink, it would have come out to be more $.  Just alittle info  :)  I think some of the online printing places can do that for you but you would have to wait for them to ship also.  Good Luck

pambrose, my hardest lesson is I can't control anything, I'm not sure I completely learned it but I'm still working on it...lol.

Navygf6 - You can actually do this yourself with Windows Live Photo Gallery!

Get some 8x10 Photo Paper OR if you don't care if it is photo paper (though the quality is better) use a good printing paper with a heavier weight.

Here is the ehow on it. I did it and got four different pics on one sheet of paper...the wallet option allows up to 9.
