Anyone know where I can print out a set of 4 wallets, each of them being a different picture? I tried Walmart but couldn't find anything. Trying to send pictures to my bf in wallets!

I wouldn't try to back track all over the place in a panic deleting stuff...I am suggesting that you make those changes that you are comfortable with now though. If anyone needs to change their settings and does not know how...just ask.

This site is not hard...it is more...meant to be more than just your PIR group...though we encourage you all to comeback here to meet with those you started out with after PIR.

It doesn't make drastic changes to the format...so you can learn it and that's what you know! Much like when you get a new piece of technology...nobody gives you a manual anymore...(dang things are like 800 pages or something...have to go online and bookmark it and refer to it)...or just start pushing buttons and see what happens!

That's what I did on here...I was like a kid in a candy store everytime I figured something else out. Also, the N4M's search engine was/is my BFF on here! LOL

She's in the uppermst top far right corner.

This doesn't just apply to this site...it's applicable to any internet site, backyard fence you talk over and your face-to-face contacts. When ny hubby was coming home from Iraq all he told me was sometime in July...then eventually I got the possible date in code. All I told friends was "soon".

I hesitate to post about this...but when I slack off..."stuff" happens.

Look, I was the same way eons ago! Think of your BC experience as a BC for you all as well...you’re here to get support and to learn a new way of life that your future Sailors will be embarking on. That's why the material is out there so you "know" rather than the unknown.

We're here to gently remind/correct...no one gets something the first time around. Mistakes will be made and what better place than with those who want to help you and have been through it.

Your Recruits/Future Sailors will always be your best source on this as well. My husband is in law enforcement as well as the military and I don't know HOW long it took me to learn how to answer the phone properly! LOL One of his co-workers got upset with me because I "grilled" him. Well, the dumbo said this when he called, “HI...is (husbands nickname) there?" That's it. SERIOUSLY?! Too bad for you buddy you're getting the third degree! When I was finally satisfied...I gave the phone to hubby. The guy said, ""What's with your wife?" H asked what he meant and the guy explained. H said, "That's as it should be." End of story.

Now, that's for us and our situation...so you can discuss these things with your SR/Sailors later on (don't worry about it now they have enough on their plate) meanwhile you can learn on your own! Many of you will have Sailors who are in ratings that because of the nature of their job...won't even be able to discuss areas of it...not even some of their schooling.

Don't be afraid...be informed.

I posted his name when I first got here but didn't know about all this security.  I should have known but I didn't.  What can happen?  It just sounds so scary.  I'd hate to think I put him in any kind of danger or trouble.

Sorry I haven't been on in a while...just life!

Here is something I have been meaning to post about posting on this site:

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the N4M's Community Guidelines (clickable link). Within it are links for OPSEC videos and info.
Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

That being said...don't be afraid to post! Our PIR groups are meant to inform and support you! PLEASE don't stop posting about your Recruit and getting letters and calls and stuff like that. Just don't mention specifics. If something is really concerning you and you don't want to post publicly, you are free to friend any of us veteran/seasoned moms and ask privately.

I have been a member of this site for over a year...I don't post my real name, pics or personal info...and I enjoy this site...and feel supported and try to help others. It can be done without giving out personal info.

Can anyone help me with what week/day my son is?  Div 283

He arrived on July 11th.   Just wanting to have that phone call with him!!!

Comment by sharbear36(ship 9 div 288) on August 2, 2012 at 9:28am

I went to Walgreens yesterday and they had a coupon for .15/print, you get 4 wallets on a 4x6, but you had to order 50.  I was there FOREVER!! lol  I'm not sending all 50, what I did was take one of the wallets and gave them to his friends that were in them and when they write, they put their pic of them inside their letter. His friends are all leaving for one branch or another so it will be another wallet I can send them when they leave also.  My coworkers has a toddler son and she came to the bonfire the night before he left and we have a pic, so she is going to write him and throw that pic in there so he will be getting them when he gets letters.

pambrose...thank you, I want the phone call too and did your anxiety go up a few notches just because they said it would come around 3 weeks and well today is 3 weeks for me and I hope I don't find myself just staring at the phone!! lol  I don't remember when your son arrived.

.....still waiting on that form letter though, not sure what to do about that but I will continue to wait because I did mention it in a couple of letters.

sharbear:  Wallet sized piks.  Smart guy!  Because since they can keep their wallets, he can store piks in there.  If you have "extra" piks you want to send, scan them onto the back of your letters or a separate sheet of paper.  That stores easier for him in his limited storage space.  So glad you got that letter!

Katvando:  Remind her in your letters that A School is a totally different (better!) thing.  You will be back in touch with her daily, skyping, etc.  It is less restrictive...probably more like her college experience. So encourage her to keep her focus on the remainder of bootcamp as she is....they just need to hear from their families that they can do this!  Just that extra boost.

Your daughter's info is the reason we tell people on here....entering the military is a totally different experience than children going off to college.  The loss of contact and having "others' in control of our children is very hard to adjust to...but you will and she will too!

Congrats on the calls and letters yesterday!
