Diannep, you lost me on the 6 week, 8 week thing. I feel so slow when I don't get something but I really didn't get that. They are sailors on 6-5 ? What's with the last week and a half?
Comment by diannep on July 25, 2012 at 6:55pm

This PIR group will start with Div 279.

Comment by diannep on July 25, 2012 at 6:55pm

Barb:  They have processing days when they first arrive, and since he is in Div 288 (brother division is 287)....they have 8 divisions ahead of them in this group.  Sooo....that means that they are some of the last to start "training weeks."  The other 8 divisions are ahead of them by a couple of days in training.

Ask your SRs for the training week/day on the day they call (weekends are "holds").  Write it on your calendar and you can follow their progress.  They are ready for BattleStations by 6-4 (week 6, day 4), and become sailors on 6-5.  These weeks are different from bootcamp weeks.  Bootcamp weeks average 8 weeks, training weeks only 6 (weekdays numbered 1-5).

And, yes, their PIR date will remain the same....unless they are "asmoed" (setback) for any reason.

His job requires top security clearance and he needed to get some information for that. I know how lucky we are to get the extra phone calls. (He got to call his dad at work too.) He also said they just started training this week. I'm not sure why. They will still have PIR 9/7 though. Couldn't ask him too much, he kept redirecting me to the information he needed. He said he loved me though. And he misses me too. (He wouldn't have said that on the phone before BC. Especially not in front of anyone.) I'm so proud of him.
Cody's going to get a lot of mail at 1st mail call as well. Glad he's not the only one. I'm sure you'll get the letter soon. I hope it didn't get lost along the way. When you write Spencer next ask if he sent it. You'll need to know who he included on the list and the password for the parking pass. All the other stuff is on here. You might get a real letter first.

A security clearance call means that they need names and phone numbers or other information regarding his security clearance. It is usually a very short call and someone is usually standing right there so you can't ask many questions at all but it sure does make you feel better just to hear their voice even if it's only for a couple seconds. Not everyone will make a call like that.

Barb, what does security clearance phone call mean?  I still have not received the form letter.  Can they do that any day?  They haven't gotten mail yet?  Wow, Spencer is going to have alot to read when they get it.  I'm glad he sounds happy, maybe all in that div are  :)

Sorry for the change in topic, everyone, but I GOT A PHONE CALL! I am so excited! It was for his security clearance and pretty short, but it was great to hear his beautiful voice. They haven't received any mail yet, but he said he'll get to write us this Sunday. He sounds happy, so I'm happy. :) I can't wait until PIR!

Ok ladies,  from Philadelphia to O'hare $221 round trip.  $325 flying into Milwaukee.  :(  But rental car (midsize)  $90 plus $65.00 fees on top of that!!  Such a ripoff for Thurs to Sat.  But Priceline was best deal I found.  But a huge relief it's booked!!!   Just want my personal letter from him.  :(
