Thanks, diannep, I always seem to forget to add that when I suggest Milwaukee.
gotcha diannep, that is what I thought you were saying :)
...didn't want to be misunderstood below in maybe indicating that the sailors could fly from Milwaukee. Don't think that they do--think it is Chicago...but their plans can change as far as timing. Did with FTLW's sailor-. I was referring to the families flying in/out of Milwaukee.
Well, we didn't want to pay for the extra hotel night. So we will be checking out Saturday but our flight isn't until Saturday evening :)
newnavywife: Get something casual and comfortable....but maybe color-wise, something to "wow" that "man (sailor!) of yours" when he finally sets eyes on you again! Well, of course, not needed....just seeing his "new" navy wife again will be "wow" enough! :-)
So glad that you got such a deal on your travel plans! Way to go! Wish more would use Milwaukee if available from their area and reasonable. For those who want to wait at the airports with their sailors the next day, and since they usually fly out of Chicago, many want to fly to/from there. I say....book return flights later, maybe even on Sunday in case your sailor's flight plans change (sometimes they do!) ...and fly from Milwaukee.
That's kind of my problem I guess. I never really have to dress up at all so I usually wear jeans and tennis, lol. I guess I will just have to go shopping and try to find something that looks appropriate. In order to wear comfy shoes I guess I will need to wear slacks :/ I'm not so good at this...
About what to wear to PIR. There is no specific dress code, but remember, your SR will be in their dress whites. Wear something you are comfortable in, although if you wear daisy dukes and crop tops for comfort, I would recommend a big NO. "
You will be climbing and sitting on bleachers in the drill hall, and after PIR you may want to walk over to the NEX there on base, which is a distance from the drill hall, so comfortable shoes.
We have heard different stories about inside the drill hall, some have said its chilly (air conditioned), and some have said it was warm. That one is hard to count on maybe take a light sweater just in case it is chilly.
Thanks Betsy! And @newnavywife, I'm now looking into MKE and that renatal car!!! Thanks for the info!!!!
Momof2boys: I am eating a high price too :( but it will be worth it to see them! I chose MKE for a couple of reasons I had read up on:
1) A bit farther but far less traffic
2)No toll roads coming from that direction
3)Rental cars were about 1/2 price. I added onto my SW package for $17 a day.
MOMOF2BOYS, they are probably both about the same distance from Great Lakes. Milwaukee is an easy drive (about 45-50 minutes) straight down the interstate to GL. Coming in to O'Hare, you will be driving around Chicago to get to GL. A lot of people say that they did not have trouble driving around the city, but depending on the time of day and with it most likely being a weekday, sometimes it can be a challenge.
