I remember that pik, FTLW.  Brought tears to my eyes....

Comment by FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW on July 24, 2012 at 7:13pm

That's terrible...God Bless him and his family...his buddies...his dog.

Oh, I don't want to see another heartbroken dog lying by a coffin...that happened a while ago...he came into the church during the service and just laid down. How anybody could carry on from there I just don't know...

Thank you diannep.

We lost a sailor from my area on Sat.  Michael Brodsky, 33, a Military Dog handler...working in Afghanistan.  He was with his dog when they came under fire, rushed to get his dog to safety, and when returning to help buddies, stepped on a mine.  Lost both legs...this earlier this month...but was fighting for his life for a good while before he lost the battle on Saturday.  If you are on FB, he is featured in a group called K9 Heroes.  There is a video posted there.  Title of the post is "San Diego-based Military Working Dog Handler Killed (video)."  Nice slideshow tribute to this man.  He had just re enlisted for another 6 yrs, this was his 3rd tour of duty there (I believe), and his younger brother is also a sailor.  Prayers for this family....

GeorgiaGirlfriend:  Good to know.  Knowing the importance of both FB and N4Moms, hoping that the groups can work together.  That would benefit all of the ladies on both groups!

Comment by GeorgiaGirlfriend on July 24, 2012 at 3:40pm

As for previous comments I have read, I promise you that the ladies that help all have sailors-- one that I know personally. There are no ulterior motives other than that we really do care for the lost moms and dads and loved ones of the recruits that have literally been torn from their life. I have organized social media pages and sites for many companies and organizations, and I understand the evolution of social media. Had these ladies not created these pages, someone would have, and with no direction or control at all. Just understand that we only strive to make it better for the families of those gone, and we constantly send many questions and concerns to N4Ms. We have nothing against N4Ms except for the fact that it is not navigation friendly, and certainly not for those not familiar with the internet. My mother wouldn't get on N4Ms because the only thing she knows to do is turn on her computer and somewhat navigate facebook. Just be nice, and come to me if you have any questions. I am open ears, and these assumptions and hasty comments that I have seen are heartbreaking-- especially when we have literally helped to keep SRs from doing something silly while in boot camp that would have lead to being removed. Thank you FTLW and Diannep for your guidance on these pages, and rest assured, we aren't out with bad intentions.

Diannep, I can assure you that we are pushing and encouraging OPSEC on the FB groups. I am one of the admins in the group she is talking about, and feel no need to hide behind a facade on here. Had Angie just discussed her concerns with us, we could have avoided tension, but seeing the comments on here from her are disheartening to say the least. I can assure you we have deleted members in the past over information given out and photos posted even that gave out too much information. Please rest assure that we are not just a bunch of loose dogs out to cause problems :)
