Hi Veteran Moms,

I've been reading a lot about the meet and greets.  Since I am staying at the Residence Inn, I am considering going to Sarge's.  I heard he puts on a nice meet and greet.  Have you gone to Sarge's?

Beth, my experience was a lot like Diannep's.  My son was one of the first to arrive at BC and had to wait for more divisions to fill.  It took about 10 days for us to get his form letter.

beth, my son arrived on a Monday (long time ago) and didn't start training for 10 days...  He was in one of the two lowest-numbered divisions (brother divisions) so they started training first.

I think you are correct about the high school students filling up the summer groups--allowing for some larger groups.

That would suck, having to wait eight days for a division to fill! I know it can happen, but my feeling is a lot of SRs are arriving at GL, since many of them graduated high school this June. I think that's why we're seeing so many divisions so fast.

Good morning!

Sharbear: The form letter can take up to 3 weeks or so sometimes. If he ended up having to wait for his division to fill before training started (mine did) it can delay the letter.

So for example, if he got there a week ago this past Wednesday, and he was one of the first in the next division that night, and looking at it possiby the last division for the training group, he would be processed in to the point of clothes being sent home etc and then stop until more arrived to fill it.

If it is the last division of this TG he would be put on hold until it fills, no way around that one as this division would be the brother division for 287. So from what I understand it to be (my son on p-hold for 8 days), it could have been as late as this past Thursday before it filled up.

Your letter may not even get mailed until tomorrow, it has to go through base mail processes first, mind you this is all just speculation on my part from the experience with my son.

Hang tight, of you don't get the letter within the next week or so there are ways for you to confirm everything.

Sharbear36- sorry to hear you haven't got the form letter yet, but honestly, other than seeing their handwriting and their password, everything else you can get from that letter is on this site. I know it might be a little bit sad but keep the faith and blame it on the US mail. Lol I dont know what part of the country you are in but maybe that's why. :)

I didn't receive the form letter yet but he is Div 288 and left on July 12.

If anyone has not checked out the discussion above titled "what are they doing in bootcamp?" posted by FTLW, I would definitely recommend it. How informative. It gives you a real feel for how our SRs days are filled. TY FTLW.
