If you have any questions on navigating the group or site...or techy stuff...please ask and I will do my best. I learned it all by trial and error! So I don't always know the why's and definitely not all of the how's but I manage! Heck, who am I kidding ...I have some down right fun with it! Haven't blown anything up...yet.

hahahaha, haven't used this one in a while...didn't want the veteran moms to get sick of it. You know...I think there is a bad word in it that gets cut off at the end...sorry

Comment by FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW on July 21, 2012 at 8:01pm

Ha, Mom of B you did that while I was typing TY!

Comment by FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW on July 21, 2012 at 8:00pm

A little "housekeeping"~

I know I mentioned about 277 adding 288 but that was becasue we don't have a Discussion for it yet and so that would be okay. We do have one for 282 already though so tracyln if you could take it off of the 281 Discussion please? :-) That way we have folks in one spot on nolanavymom's. TY!

This group started up slow but you all got your Divison Discussions going so fast! Thank you for doing so! I am trying to encourage them being formed as Brother Divisions or future PIR groups...but that is all...just a suggestion. The reason being is that they train together and sometimes one will have less members or less info from their SR's and so they can "experience" it through the other Division and feel more connected. The Brother Div on my own PIR never formed a Discussion and only really had two active members...but they were VERY active!

Okey Dokey...I have added the standard Discussions I do for every PIR group up in the Discussion Forum.

For those  that no longer see there Div Discussion...it is still there...it's just not showing.

Here is how the Discussion Forum works:

-Discussion Forum Area

This is the place to start a Discussion about a topic and for your Division Discussions.

The Discussion Forum area is set to show titles only and is at the maximum of twenty titles at a time.

It is also set to show the "latest activity". So whatever has just had a reply added to it will "bump" that Discussion to the top. The discussion will stay up there at the top because it has had "activity"…until the next Discussion has activity. If there are over twenty discussions, whatever is at the bottom will disappear. So, if you want to see more, click  "view all" at the bottom right hand corner of the discussion forum area. It is right up there above the Blue Comment Wall bar.

To "bump" up a discussion to the first spot of the DF area when you don't really want to add a reply...in other words someone is looking for it...just type whatever you want in the reply box and click "add reply". I just type one letter or even a period and add the reply.

When you view a DF by clicking on the title, the first post ever made will be the first one on the first page. To get to the most current reply, click “Last Reply” directly underneath that particular Discussion.

You will also notice that in the top right corner in any post that you do you will see an "x". This is so you may delete your post if you need too. You will also see the “x” on any post you make anywhere else on the site.

The last time RTC had 14 Divisions they released a statement (it is gone now)was back in March...at that time they gave tips and cautioned that not all extra guests would get in. They ask for guests in the Hall to be seated by 8:45 and then allow the extras in then. (On smaller PIR's they sometimes just let them in)

They also stated that Midway Ceremonial Drill Hall can accomodate 14-16 Divisions and their four guaranteed guests (I wish I had the post)...so I did some math for it once when we had the last PIR of 13 Divisions. A mom had PM'd me about extras.

I agree with LaLa on the 75-80 Sailors per Division graduatiing. So I took

75 x 4 = 300 guests per Division.

300 x 16 = 4800 guests per PIR.

(Children 12 and under do not ount towards the four and do not need to be on the access list. Neither do Active and Retired military with valid Active Duty/Retired Military ID card.)

Here is what RTC says on their FAQ page on their Website:

Q.

How many guests per recruit are allowed to attend Pass-In-Review?
A.

Recruits are permitted to place up to four names on the access list. Please coordinate with your Recruit as only Recruits may place names on the list. RTC can neither change these names nor release the names of those on the list. Children age 12 and younger do not need to be listed on the access list and will not count toward the maximum number of guests. Active Duty and Retired military personnel will not count toward the maximum number of guests and do not need to be listed on the access list, but must present a valid Active Duty/Retired military ID card. The four guests on the access list will be admitted into the ceremonial drill hall first. Additional guests not on the access list will have to wait inside the Visitor Center until after the start of the ceremony at which time they will be allowed into the ceremonial hall if additional seating is available as space permits. No additional seating can be guaranteed. All guests 18 years and older, must present valid government issued photo identification (driver’s license, state ID card, passport, military ID card). Guests 17 years or younger who do not possess one the items listed above must present one of the following: school ID card, driver’s permit, copy of their birth certificate or social security card. PLEASE DO NOT CALL FOR ADDITIONAL SEATS.

Q.
When will I receive tickets/passes to graduation?
A.

There are no actual tickets or passes. Recruits list the names of up to four guests that will be included on the access list. Recruits cannot obtain additional “tickets” from other recruits.

Q.
I am not sure I am on the access list. Can you find out and make changes if I am not?
A.

It is the recruit’s decision whom to place on the access list. Please communicate with your recruit well before the final week of training to be sure the right names are on the list. The Public Affairs Office does not have a copy of the access list as they names on the list are not divulged to the public. No additions, deletions or changes will be made to the access list the week of graduation.

What Dianne said is so true. My husband (then fiancee) was supposed to go to PIR with me. The day before we left his boss became ill and my husband could not get the days off. It was too late to change the list. I took my dad with me instead. I also had my son, my Sailor's best friend, my Sailor's boyfriend, boyfriend's mom, my Sailor's dad (my ex) and his new wife. 8 of us total. Only three of us were on the list because the fourth one on the list was my hubby. We had 13 divisions graduating. We left the hotel at 6:30am when we checked in we told them my husband could not come but we brought my Sailor's Grandpa instead and he was not on the list. They were SUPER NICE, they marked out my hubby's name and wrote my dad's name in his place. Then my dad, my son, Sailor's best friend and myself went in without a problem. My Sailor's boyfriend and his mom were in line behind us and because we were in line early they didn't even make them wait for all the guests to get in. My ex and his wife came later and they were some of the last ones to arrive and didn't have to wait either even though they were not on the list.

I know things change but Dianne and I have been on this site as volunteers for more than two years. We have helped a lot of divisions get through this experience and I personally have never heard of one single person who came back and said they were not able to get in. They have enough seats for 16 or 17 divisions of 75-80 Sailors have 4 guests each. Think about how many Sailors are there who only have one or two people come and sadly many of them have no one who can come. Then you can understand why the extras are able to get in. If  there are a lot of divisions then the extra's may have to wait until all the others are seated but that is not a big deal. I know if my son does join like he is planning we will take every family member who is able to go. It is an experience like no other and you all want to be there to celebrate with your Sailor :-)

Ladies, just wanted to suggest that you bring questions from your divisions to this main board.  We N4Moms veterans don't have time to get through all of the division discussions every day (we are on an average of 7-8 PIR groups at a time)....so just make sure to post the question here and we will respond!
