Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

So sad that it was confirmed that one our sailors was killed in the Colorado shooting....27 yr old from Illinois based out there. Heartbreaking time for our nation, and for us losing "one of our own" here. Prayers continue for all....

I am on a roadtrip right now helping my daughter move to CO, but I will be back on next week more regularly. I just wanted to introduce myself today and welcome you all.

So happy for all who have received their letters and any who still haven't I will say a special prayer for you all tonight. Not sure if everyone's questions have been answered but, my husband and I booked at the Navy Lodge through Sunday. From what I could tell it is really up in the air as to whether we will get Friday only or possibly Saturday and maybe even Sunday with our SRs. all I know is one of mine will be in San Antonio after BC so, if we can have the whole weekend with him we are gonna make the best of it. My other son will be in Pensacola, which is only a 5 1/2 hour drive from us so, we can drive to see him during his A-school.

Comment by FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW on July 20, 2012 at 11:19pm: We are up to 11 divisions at least...I see a 287 so that means we sill have a 288 as TG start with an odd number and end in an even for the regular divisions. Each odd and even makes a Brother divison. Brother Divisions train together and will go through Battlestations together.

Mom of B...would you like to add 288 to the title of your Discussion so you can share together (you don't have too1).

Here is how:

Go to the Discussion.

Click "Options" at the top right.

From the drop down click "Edit Group" .

Add 288 to the Title.

Click "Save" at the bottom right.

Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on July 20, 2012 at 8:43pm: I also recommend a rental car. Sometimes you can get a rental for the whole weekend cheaper than one cab ride from the airport to the hotel.

Kvanvels- I would go ahead and boot it just in case. You can always cancel the day before if you decide you don't need it. We left a day early to come home and didn't have to pay anything at all to cancel. We were at Navy Lodge but most of the hotels there have that same policy.
