~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

good morning!  just an fyi, I was a bit worried as I had booked the Navy Lodge under my name, I just called to switch it and was told that they are able to book the room under our name and then they will change it the day we arrive to our sailors name, so no biggie - parents, she said they are allowed to do that at this location for graduations.

Think they need your real name and your Sailor's name~~

Comment by CatMom509 on August 14, 2014 at 4:14am

Irishcat & blessedsailorsmom,

If the Navy Lodge reservation hasn't been cancelled yet.  You could private message each other to get each other's names then perhaps Irishcat can give Navy Lodge blessedsailormom's real name/Sailor's name to change reservation to, then blessed must call right away with your Sailor's name and credit card to put on file, but they won't charge anything to it...  Please let me know if you two had to try this and whether it worked~~

Comment by CatMom509 on August 14, 2014 at 4:09am

Irishcat,

Are you talking about RAP duty where after A school only, a Sailor can come home on leave, work at the recruiter's office for a week, the get those days credited back when the Sailor reports to their first duty station?  All you or your future Sailor needs to do is let the recruter office know of their A school graduation date, when your Sailor will be home, for how long, and the recruiter sets it up~~  Great way for your Sailor to not be using leave days, but still gets to be home with you!!  This option is only available after completion of A school, no other leave time home~~
