OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

I was up in recruiter office yesterday and asked about that program somebody posted HARP where SR can work couple hours to earn extra days off when they are home !! Whoo can't wait to tell my SR about it.. Trying to spend a little quality time with his sister now. Feeling a little bad as I haven't written many letters to him this week as
I called in my family overseas etc to help out with cards letters. I think he was getting tired of just mom letters lol!!

blessedsailorsmom:  Did you call them directly or did you find that out online?  We have been told if you call the hotel directly, sometimes they will have cancellations that just came in and can get you a room.  I hope it works out for you!

blessedsailorsmom,

Yep, there's a Meet & Greet down in Events on the lower left of this page for this group--  Those are all clickable links.  Be sure to click and RSVP, then Comment the amount in your party in the comment box~~

The favorite hotels are Navy Lodge, then in Waukegan/Gurnee (about 10 min away from RTC) -- Springhill Suites, Courtyard by Marriot, Holiday Inn Express, and Residence Inn.

Welcome Back!!  You can click the "X" upper right corner of duplicate posts to delete them~~  :)
