N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Austin's Mom - I so see that with my younger SR (PIR 8.22), he is just 20 and is really seeing how his dad being so "hard" as he would say on him is making him strive to be the best he can now.  It made my husband cry when he got the letter the other day.  My SR in this PIR is 25, so he was pretty "grown up" already  LOL

You are very welcome, FatchewsMom!  All of us N4Moms veterans, whether here or on FB (or both!), are here to help but I want to make sure the groups work together!  We have had ladies in the past just go on the FB groups and leave this site, back when the FB groups were relatively new, and those groups were receiving some inaccurate info.  In the same way, we may have inaccurate info here at times and the only way we will know is if we all work together to make sure we get correct info out!    I know the administrators on the FB groups work hard to make sure the right info is available to you and have some experience under their belts now.

Please encourage those on FB to still check into these group sometimes too....so that all info available to them is received!  Thanks!

Thanks diannep. I copied your post in our secret setting "private" FB group. Thanks for the info. I might now post a lot but I'm a stalker here checking posts to see what everyone is up to or questions that might pertain to me and my SR. Thanks for all you do!

Ok, glad that some of you are still on here!  We hear that FB is much easier to use from phones than N4Moms is.  Not sure why that is, but maybe it is just because many are personally on their FBs anyway often and so it easy to check posts there in the PIR group.  Just be careful what you post in FB Navy groups....last names are exposed, and even though these groups are "private" and you have to be accepted into them, we know for a fact that some people connected to your SRs' "bosses" at RTC have gained access in the past, posing as having an SR in the PIR group (there is NO way to confirm whether or not someone has a SR at PIR...no matter what you are told...those names are NOT released by RTC).  I don't say this to scare anyone off of FB....just be wise in what you post there as you need to be here too.

For instance....if your SR writes you and says that he/she hates this person, doesn't agree with why he/she has to do this, etc...that is not to be posted!  It is best to only post general info on each of the sites....personal info that your SR discloses to you should remain that way.

I have been helping on this site now for about 4.5 yrs....you would be shocked at what some ladies have exposed in  posts in the past....some have literally posted entire letters they received from their SRs....not a good idea.  One wife  posted that her hubby hated his RDC named ______.  Yep, posted his name right there.  Another wife replied to her:  Well, when you see that RDC at PIR, you should kick him in the ____ (she put the word, lets just say it is "below the belt!").  I knew that if these SRs' RDC saw these posts, both of these SRs would be in trouble (yes, the 2nd SR strictly from what his wife said!).  Thankfully, we got the posts removed quickly.

So, before posting anything on here or in the FB groups, just ask yourself:  Would my SR be ok with me posting this while he/she is in Bootcamp?   If you are not sure, better to not post it.

No matter how hard the administrators on both groups try, there is no way to keep all "prying eyes" off of social media groups, including FB and N4Moms.  That should not cause any problem as long as everyone is wise on what they post.

I have to say....recently, the groups on here have been so much better and more respectful of what their SRs tell them.  We rarely have to delete a post on here, unless a SR's last name is exposed, which is not allowed on here.  So...keep up the good work!

And for those of you on both sites, please share info from your FB groups here with us, and vice versa.  That way, everyone is helped!

Good Morning!  I hope all ahve a great weekend and that maybe some calls will come in for you today!

I'm in both too. I see the messages here in my email but it's been quiet so I haven't commented either.

I know of 2 off the top of my head. Kathy Decarlo and Donna Ladd-Fields. It's a PIR 09-12-14 group.
