OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Follow this link for OPSEC Guidelines:

N4M's Community Guidelines

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Looking forward to PIR-flying in tomorrow from Calif.  Hopefully the pilot doesn't divert the plan for an "emotionally unstable passenger"....that would be me anxious to see my son.  CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL :)

GRU:  The passwords may not be the same and are not supposed to be shared, so it is hard for someone to do that.  Just know that you can take a shuttle to PIR without the gate pass.  They bypass car lines too!  Just contact Sarge 847 212 0246 by text/call, or sign up for it at the MeetandGreet.  Have you received the I'm a Sailor call from your sailor yet?  If not, be sure to ask your sailor since the sailors write the password in the form letter.  But don't panic if you don't have the gate can also drive by park at the train station which is right past RTC (about 1/2 mile walk to the gate) and then you wouldn't have to wait in traffic to leave the base.  So there are alternatives!

Could someone please PM me the parking pass word as I have misplaced the form letter...please
