Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Comment by diannep on August 2, 2014 at 5:56pm: Lovells is owned by the astronaut, Jim Lovell. Your sailor will eat for free, we have been told! I do believe that reservations are suggested for this restaurant. Food is very good, but a little pricey.

We have heard good things about Lovell's in Lake Forest and Wildfire in Lincolnshire (both steakhouses) and Giordano's for Chicago Pizza~~ (The Gurnee location is closest to RTC).

Comment by Alecat navy wifey on August 2, 2014 at 4:28pm: I just got my first letter I'm so excited happy and kind of sad but he sounds happy and a little concerned because he said that there is a lot of guys leaving hurt or sick, that worries me. he has a cold and he also said everyone in his division has a cold or a nasty cough but he says they're all really cool guys it was funny to hear that everyone is asking him every morning to teach them some new Jamaican word and ask him to always talk in patwa because they like his accent I thought that was very cool.He also said they got in trouble because at bed time most of the division was still talking but he said its cool they're all team mates and they seem to get along fine I'm just happy to hear from him and know that he's OK. I hope he gets to call me I miss my man.

Comment by SumnerRain on August 2, 2014 at 4:06pm: I got a phone call 2 hours ago!! My phone was on vibrate and I was out so he called the house number and talked to his dad and siblings. Dad was able to get through to me and instruct him to call me again and we got to talk for about 5 minutes. Dad said he sounded good, but I thought he sounded like he was trying to keep his emotions in check.
