~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

jeffsmom:  Question for you since you live in Chicago area.  Someone on another PIR group wants to take the train to GL.  They are flying into Midway and wanted to know the best way to get from there to the train station.  Any ideas?

stevensmom:  You can't send the SRs anything but letters and cards.  They can get in trouble if they receive care packages so please don't send them.  You can take those for your sailor to enjoy at your hotel after PIR!

I got his call this morning!  Couldn't believe we were talking to each other!  Completely forgot everything I was going to ask him about.  He sounded good a tad tired perhaps.  He mentioned he was in a good group and every one had behaved so they'd earn a quick phone home call.  :)  Said  boot camp was better than anticipated - just wasn't used to the no communication part.  Mail call is his favorite part of the day.  So I'm off to go write another!

Am on cloud nine to finally hear from him that all is good.  He reminded me that no news is good news for the next while -

Keep your phones close - he didn't know he was going to get to call either!

Hi Logan's mom.  I'm so happy you heard from your son as well.  I'm sorry he was only okay.  I'm very happy to talk with someone in the same division.  I'm hoping we can meet the night before at the meet and greet.  We live in the Chicagoland area, so if there is anything I can help you with please don't hesitate to ask.  I'm so proud of all our kids.

FatchewsMom:  Here is a link to explain the different Recruit Leadership Positions:

http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/rpo1.asp

It is very normal for some of them to be struggling and sound very emotional right now.  It is not necessarily over the work in Bootcamp but rather the fact that they have been cut off from all of their family members/friends, and things familiar to them.  They are told everything to do and how/when to do eacj thing.  It is something that takes a while to adjust to.  You may notice that after PIR when on Liberty, they seem hesitant to do anything on their own since they have been told what to do for so long!
