~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Samiamsmom. As for the cloths, I read somewhere casual dress is fine.. Something you would wear to church.. My husband only wears jeans so I know he will be wearing them.. I'm sure casual shorts are fine, although I've read that it's freezing in the hall..Bring a blanket!! lol. You will be sitting a while you need to be comfy..

One more question. What are PIR ribbons? Should I have one, can I buy it, or do I make it? I guess that's more than one question, but they are all tied together :)

I have 2 quick questions that may have been answered earlier, but if they were I missed the posts.  1st of all, can a recruit add someone to their list after the form letter has been sent out.  My husband and I are on it, but my brother recently found out that he will be able to attend.  I have asked my SR in several letters to see if she can add him, but I haven't received a reply to that question from her yet. 2nd, what do people wear to PIR?  Obviously, we wouldn't wear anything inappropriate, but are jeans ok?  Is it hot in there, can I wear capris? Are nice shorts ok for men? We tend to be hot blooded and in Texas almost anything goes, but I've lived in other states and know that shorts and jeans are not always acceptable.  Thank you all for your help :)

Omg I am so excited.  Just printed off pass and schedule so I will be on it and not too lost when I get there.  Missing my boy like crazy and can not wait to see him.

Good Morning Everyone!

Yes, the poster idea is a great one to honor your new sailors!   Some decorate their cars inside...some their hotel rooms.  Just please remember to not take signs to PIR....they are not allowed and even if you manage to get one in, holding it up at the wrong time can block the view of those behind you.  This has happened in the past...one lady said she missed seeing her sailor when he passed by because the lady in front of her stood up right then holding up her poster.  Very sad....

Good Morning to all the SRs loved ones!! It is a glorious morning here in Maryland!  Only 9 days to go!! I wrote my next to last letter last night. I think I'll send my last one out on Friday. Hey, I heard that someone is making a poster to put on their hotel room door, what a great idea!
