OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Thanks Lindsayaproudmom, I have shared it a lot and now lots of others are sharing it as well :)

Thanks Dianne, I can't wait to make ribbons for this group to wear to PIR. It won't be long now and I know they will wear them proudly :)

Good Morning!

Southwest Airlines is having a great fare sale.  Check fares into Milwaukee (45 min to GL) and Chicago-Midway (hour+ to GL).  Remember, no change fee, 2 bags check for free, and if you have to cancel, ticket is good for a year:

Thanks Kam'sMom for the reassuring words from your experience. I think that is something Sam would do or try to rest. I really understand because I know him and right now he is very focused on what he is doing. I'm sure I will hear from him soon.

Thanks again, your comment helps!

Just a reminder about Lala's wonderful PIR ribbons!  If interested, please go to her page to look at the piks and contact her from there.  Beautiful and reasonably priced!

Really missing my girl and wondering how she is doing. How is everyone else doing?? Wondering if I will get a letter this week. This has been the longest we have gone since hearing from them. We got kind of spoiled when they called the first couple of weeks! I guess no more calls until "I am a Sailor" call!

THanks Lala Ribbon Queen PIR ribbons! That video is amazing! You can share it , the band is called Madison Rising and it is on Youtube!

I'd like to think that is the case but other Moms in his Div have received letters. My husband thinks it's because he's exhausted, focusing on other things like studying for the tests. I think he's either sleeping during his free time or just getting to know the other SRs or both. Since he became a teenager he's been like an "out of sight, out of mind" kind of guy. :/
