~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

32 days, yay so happy to see these days count down! My daughter sounded really good when I spoke to her this past week and I really took it in because it sounds like they won't be calling again for awhile. Sounds like they have really busy next two weeks! She sounded so excited that she got all her uniforms and they were being tailored now. Probably surreal for them I would imagine. Can't wait to see my girl walk through those doors on 09/13/13! So, I am off to write her a letter now!

My daughter said that she has night watch every other night from 0200 to 0400 , is this something that they all take turns doing? I thought every other night sounded like a lot.

She also asked me to send pictures of her when she has her hair done and make up on, they all want to see what each of them look like fixed up! LOL!

Jakes Mom,

Your son will most likely want his cell phone, cell phone charger, laptop, his own comfy underwear, maybe a couple t-shirts/shorts and favorite snacks he can only get from your area.  You need to be able to stuff these items into his Navy issued black backpack at the airport.  He will already have a humongous seabag and garment bag with his uniforms, so he can't carry another bag.  Also bring your son a set of clothes to relax in the hotel room in after he takes a nice, lengthy, private shower!!

d2b2707,

During the 1st 2 weeks at A school in Phase I, the Sailors must wear a designated Navy uniform at all times outside of their rooms.  Inside, they can wear civvies.  After reaching Phase II, then they are allowed to wear civvies inside and outside of their rooms.  Since they will be able to call and email you during A school, they can let you know what to send them when they can have more of their clothing and other items.

My Sailor daughter (who is joyfully on leave at home now!) said she wore her smurfs (sweats) to sleep and her roommate wore her physical training (PT) clothing, which were the yellow shirt and shorts.  They can wear their civies inside their rooms and it is usually not a problem~~

Don't forget to bring her own comfortable underwear and bras too.  Write her and ask which ones or bring a bunch for her to choose for you to give her at the airport (inside a discreet plastic grocery bag).

d2b2:  Hmmmm......never been asked that before.  I would imagine they sleep in whatever they did in Bootcamp until they can phase up and wear civilian clothes.  Maybe Lala can answer this better since she has a sailor daughter!

Good question d2b2707
My SR will be in Pensacola and I have no idea what I should bring to the airport for him.

Morning, happy Sunday! Thank you diannep & veteran moms! I have posted questions in the Facebook 9/13 PIR group but I do have another. I assume that SRs are given shorts or night gowns to sleep in while at bootcamp, but what about when they get to A-school? I've read that the first 2 weeks they have to wear civvies but what about when they're at their barracks? I did send my Daughter a questionnaire about what she wants me to bring her but I forgot to ask if she needs me to bring sleep wear. Thanks
