OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I just read her last letter that we got in the mail today.  She is so upbeat and excited about this week.  What a difference from that first letter.  She is ready to be a sailor.  So am I!!!!!!:)

Good Morning!

It could come earlier, Wefixit!  Sometimes they start at around 2 pm Central time!   But sometimes they start later....phones close!  :-)

Anyone as anxious as I am for the call from 349/350?  Sounds like it should come around 3:00 CST

So happy to talk to my sailor again today!! She was so excited to have subway! That cracked me up!  I found out that those flying to San Antonio will probably only have Friday with their families and most likely fly out early Sat. morning. She was pretty bummed about it thinking she would have more time with us but I told her that we will just make the best of it! That's what we have to do for the next 4 years!! You really learn how to cherish those times together!

Congrats to the new sailors of 347/348/944!  :-)
