~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

He left on 7/15, so I was expecting letter by end of this week.  It really helps to have info and to be able to start making plans.  Looking forward to an actual letter from him next.  It will be interesting to see if he writes much...a two sentence text was a lot for him! :)

Hi all, just learned my son is SHIP13 DIV347 and his PIR is 9/13 - just getting my bearings on N4M site, but glad to be joining this group!

my son also left for GL on July 17th, we received his box last Friday , but it is killing me not hearing from him, I don't think I have ever gone 8 days without hearing from him. I know that no news is good news but I still worry, isn't that a mom's job!

I just got the letter!!  He is SHIP 11 DIV 346 and his PIR is 9/13.  It looks like it was just mailed on Mon. 7/22 and we live in Phoenix, so surprised and happy it came so quickly.  Now to start addressing all the letters and cards I've had stacked up.  BTW...the 9/13 PIR is allowing 4 guests!  It helps to have some news from him, even if his handwriting looks foreign (but easy to read)!

Forgot to add that my son is CTN and will go to Pensacola following PIR.

My son's recruiter says this will be his PIR date I all goes well. He arrived at GL on the 17th. His girlfriend arrived on the 16th. Her parents haven't got their letter yet either. I am hoping they graduate on the same day since her parents most likely wont be able to attend. I'm so proud of both of them and want to be there for both. Luckily, my brother lives just outside of Chicago so we don't need to get a hotel. We will be driving so that part stinks, but with five of us going, it will be much cheaper. Plus, we make the trip every year anyway so it's a familiar one. Does anyone else on here have a loved one that arrived on the 16th or 17th and have received their form letter.

Hello Andrewsmom.... My son arrived at GL on 7/16 and I haven't recd the letter yet but I'm assuming his PIR should be 9/13. He is also an AT/AE and will be in Pensacola for A school. Hope your letter comes soon.

Hello All!  I'm still waiting for my son's letter, but based on estimates of timing (arrived GL on 7/15), he should be in the PIR 9/13 group.  Does anyone else have an SR who arrived same day?  My son is also an AE/AT and will go to A school in Pensacola.
