~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

diannep ~ Thanks for the info but as it stands right now I haven't been added the guest list for PIR...That is something I am hoping will change between now and then, especially being I know his father already told him he wouldn't be there and I would give anything to be there...Keep your fingers crossed and say your prayers for me ladies, lord knows I need all the help I can get...

AnchorsAweigh:  Every now and then, they get the Recruit Mail Petty Officer trained before 2 weeks, but usually they receive their first mail (held) and get to write the 2nd Sunday after most arrived.

FLMOM:  Refundable tickets are VERY expensive.  A suggestion is to check Southwest Airlines into either Chicago-Midway  hour+ drive to GL)  or Milwaukee (45 min drive to GL).  No change fee charged in the event your plans change (you can use the ticket for up to a year), and 2 bags check for free!  Good deal!

I should say that they normally have to be back at GL A School base by 9 or 10 pm.  Usually they can leave pretty early in the morning for Liberty as well.  They will be advised of all of this once they have moved over there.

Comment by diannep on July 24, 2013 at 12:58pm

Correct, Kam'sMom:  They usually have to be back at RTC by 8 or 9 pm.  It was 9 pm for my son a few years back because they won the Hall of Fame flag.  They will be bussed to the airport a few hours after that to wait for flights Saturday (some may not leave until later in the afternoon, so that is a long wait at the airport!).

Heather:  Those with GL A School students are very fortunate since you all will have Liberty with your sailors Fri afternoon/evening after they move to that base (usually done by mid afternoon or so)....Saturday, and Sunday daytime!  No overnights, but lots of visiting time!  :-)

Are there any SR's from this PIR that will be staying in GL after PIR...my SR is going to be a MN so he will be staying in GL for another 8 weeks after PIR and then going to San Diego for 3-4 months...

Samsmysailor.. His recruiter said 9/13 but I'm also stalking my mailman waiting for my letter...

We got our letter today! So wonderful to see forward movement even though I cried! She is division 345. PIR 9/13. Anyone else in that division? Now to send these letters and make travel arrangements (:

Good morning everybody! Derrick & Tammie, my son is also going to Pensacola as an AT/AE. When is your son's PIR?
