for
~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Good morning :)
tbird, no worries about Sarge's meet and greet. There are always going to be one or two among thousands and thousands who don't like something. You know the old saying squeaky wheel gets the grease. The official RTC facebook page doesn't allow any advertising at all. Not for a meet and greet, not for ribbons, not even for another facebook group where parents can come for support for their PIR. Someone had posted on that page that they were going and others started commenting on it. They always delete anything that comes close to an advertisement. One or two people posted negative comments on it. One saying it was too loud and one saying it was just a place to sell shirts and advertise his taxi service. Several months ago he made some changes and turned the volume down and we haven't seen any more complaints since then. He does have a vendor there selling shirts but they are in a corner of the huge room and no one is pressured to buy them. He does tell everyone about his taxi service but that is great info to know. He usually has the best price of any taxi service there. He is former military himself and he does a lot to take care of our sailors who are there in A-school to make sure they get back to the base safely when they have been out on liberty. I was at Sarge;s meet and greet in November and I had no complaints at all. It is a free meet and greet with free food and it is lots of fun meeting the friends you have made on this site and facebook. The meet and greet is ran by he and his wife off of donations and the basket raffle. The money each week is used to pay for the next weeks PIR. It is definitely something to go to if at all possible :)
thanks diannep..i am thinking that is what he has done..let someone use his minutes because we sent him with 2 cards and has only called me once for 15 minutes and his dad once for 2 minutes..o well hopefully if he gets a call this weekend someone will lend him their card..i am at work so i put the phone call in to my parents to go buy some and mail them ASAP. LOL
amy: Not sure how often they get to the NEX, so you may want to send him a card....with at least 250 min on it since the connection from the pay phones eats up their minutes. In the meantime, if he is awarded a call and can't get to the NEX, maybe someone will lend him their card and he can return the favor when he gets his.
TBird- I am a member of all of the PIR groups and RTC pages on Facebook> I have yet to see one negative comment with regard to Sarge or the Meet & Greet. I must be missing something, but I'm there often reading all of the posts. I did see where RTC put a note stating that they just wanted it on record that there is no actual "RTC sponsored" meet & greet or get togethers prior to PIR. But that is all. They just want word to be put out there that they aren't affiliated directly with that particular function.
I got a letter from my SR today..he is doing well but out of minutes on his phone card..he asked to send him more but i know it will take a few days to get there. my question is when do they get to goto the nex ? can't he buy them there? last time i talked to him he said he had $150.00 on his nex card plus he has his debit card. i just don't want to miss out on a phone call this weekend:(
So, did anyone watch the Livestream of today's PIR service? What did you think? It is really an amazing service! Such pride in our new sailors!
Good morning all! Have a wonderful day today. :)
Good Morning!
Great to hear, dave7val!
