For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

SailoW's Wife, I know Div 313 had calls on Saturday. What Div is your SR in? Maybe he had wisdom teeth out or watch?

Comment by SailorW'sWife on August 17, 2015 at 10:48am: This is a little off topic but since this is their 4th week, 3rd week of training, aren't we suppose to get calls this week? I read that they're required an "I'm still alive" call during this week. I really really hope it's true!!

Comment by KYNavyMomma on August 17, 2015 at 10:13am: the push division that my son is in will put him at having PIR 8 Fridays after arriving- which is typical for a Push division. I'm very curious about how they play catch up. He left on 7/27 and PIR is 9/18 .....they are still about a week behind in training compared to most others in this PIR group.

Comment by KYNavyMomma on August 17, 2015 at 8:55am: Ladies, just a quick question, because this PUSH division confuses me. I know my son is in a push division (313), because his original PIR date should have been 9/25- it's 9/18 though. I did get my first call from him on Saturday and he said they were on training week 2 day 3....this seem much further behind than I would have thought. Most everyone else with this PIR date is into week 3 of training. I also heard this is "hell week" for them. So my question is this....I realize the push divisions have to "hurry up" to graduate with the others on 9/18...but how do they actually make up all that time? Is it hell week for them also being that this is the 4th week they are at boot camp? (my son arrived 7/27)... I thought I was doing a good job of keeping up with their training days so I had an idea of what he was doing (somewhat) based on Craig's daily posts on the FB PIR page (sponsored by DEP)....now I'm not so sure, just more confused...push divisions are good for us Moms since we get to see our SR's a week sooner, but not so sure they're a good thing for the recruits.
