OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

This is such an emotional roller coaster for each of us, and I'm so glad I get share to this ride with all wonderful women...hoping for all of us to get letters and calls this week...

Kory&Joshuasmom: it's not crazy at all, 3 years ago all the moms on my daughter's division wore the hot pink scarf...just not sure if she's going to let me do that this time, cuz she's coming to her brother's PIR. Get something that your SR would say, that's my mom!!!

I finally received the first letters written by my daughter today. (DIV 315)....☺

CJDA.....my daughter and my SR's girlfriend have been shopping with me to look for a scarf specifically for PIR...everything they pick up , I say NO, it needs to scream at me much louder than that!  That's so funny - I thought I was a bit crazy, but I want to make it as easy as possible for my son to find me in the madness after PIR :)  Makes me feel so much better to know I'm not alone in my craziness!

If you are planning on attending the meet and greet, you will need to go to the website and RSVP with the number and names of who will be attending.

I am new at this, I saw where someone send me a message but now I can not find it to respond. So whoever you are, I am not ignoring your question, I am just don't know what I am doing. LOL

I plan on being at the meet and greet as well. I am looking forward to meeting everyone. I haven't got to be on here much, but I love when I get the chance to. It is always good to know that you are not alone. I am so ready to see my SR and was very glad that I received a call from him this past Sunday. :)

Cassie's mom: meet and greet happens the night before PIR. You can find more information about it on the left hand side of this screen. Just click on Sarge's meet and greet.
